Yeah, this is getting redundant. They're not interested. I'm not sure they ever have been. Pretty sure Vinny's the only member on staff that's actually followed the series. The zeitgeist seemed to catch them initially with this game (I remember Brad and Jason specifically singing high praise). But, given time to reflect, I think they've found that the game's just not for them (maybe not Jason; he hasn't really voiced his recent opinion as the other duders have).

There's nothing wrong with The Witcher III not touching the Giant Bomb GOTY list. In fact, I'd say that it's a good thing; it's a testament to what a fantastic year 2015 has been for games, in versatility and quality (by comparison, look at 2014's GOTY, where everyone picked Shadow of Mordor by what felt like default). It's a shame that the staff don't seem to share the reverence for the game that the rest of the industry has, but it also doesn't matter. Their exclusion shouldn't stop you from enjoying this game to the fullest, and it's a hell of a game to enjoy.

It seems cool. Don't think I'll pick up the full release, though. I loved the look of the youkai and the overall charm of the game, but something's not clicking. It may just be the auto-playing combat, although, with some more mini games thrown into the loop, I could see it becoming very fun. As it was, the three mini games on deck (I think it was three; it felt like three) weren't terribly difficult or fun.

Ultimately, though, I think I'm most disappointing due to misplaced expectations. I knew nothing about the game outside of the fact that it was a "cultural phenomenon." With such high praise, and the concept of youkai being thrown around, I thought the game was going to be more of an ARG, using the 3DS camera to find youkai imposed upon your immediate environment. And then you could capture them and fight them and all the hullabaloo that is actually in the game That would've been so rad. But it's not the game's fault for not delivering upon those unwarranted, and admittedly lofty, expectations. Doesn't soothe my dashed dreams, though.

I don't think Jeff keeps up with Destiny's meta, so I doubt Thorn's prevalence prior to 2.0 was really the reason he didn't enjoy the multiplayer.

Actually, if I'm remembering correctly, he expressed grievances with the multiplayer during the beta (video's on the site).

My bet is the TTK just isn't fast enough for him (especially when you take into account how insanely low COD's TTK is). At the same time, Destiny's mobility options are limited compared to games Jeff's enjoyed recently (Titanfall and Advanced Warfare being obvious examples). Destiny might just hit this weird middle ground for him that's not necessarily slow, but not fast enough.

Yeah, you do. They have their own series of quests that sort of intermingle with the vanilla story.

As you can tell by the delayed response, not the most active. But still, pretty cool. A lot of the people that have stuck around playing Destiny have moved to the clan Cerberus Wolves (from Lincoln Force). It's a smaller clan, but the people there are pretty awesome. However, since Taken King is coming out really soon, I wonder if there's gonna be a bit of a resurgence in Lincoln Force from older members hopping back in.

Either way, right now, Lincoln Force is pretty barren; Cerberus Wolves does stuff. That may change in the near future.

I don't necessarily see how the numbers are indicative of the game's quality, but maybe cool it on the condescension towards people just curious about said numbers. The popularity of a sub group could be very surprising to someone far removed from that sub group; to say someone's head is "buried deep in the sand" for not knowing that information is a bit (needlessly) aggressive.

That said, I don't know what Destiny's population is, but, just from playing, I know it isn't wont for a greater one. Or, rather, it doesn't need it. Matchmaking is fast for pretty much every activity. There's always someone looking to do what you want to do. It actually surprises me given the general (maybe "apparent" is a better word) consensus surrounding the game.

@vincentblackrose: Yes. Whether or not you're using a disk, your PSN ID is what's important. You could sign in on any PS4 with Destiny installed or in the disk tray, as long as the PS4 has your Playstation account linked with it.
