1. Mass Effect 2
An amazing story, improvements that "removed" rpg elements yet managed to make me like it even more. They knew what was wrong with Mass Effect, they improved it for Mass Effect 2. And they should be rewarded for the amazing job at that!

2. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Managed to improve the StarCraft multiplayer by streamlining it somewhat. But the biggest improvement was made on the single-player! My god was that a ride. But it's just not Commander Shepard doing it. Space rednecks sorta seem like space cowboys. Sweet Home Alamaba went through my Hyperion the entire goddamn time!

3. Red Dead Redemption
I am normally not a big fan of GTA games. But they made the characters so darned interesting this time around AND it's the bloody ol' West! I like me some cowboys shooting things. Great game. But still no spaceships!

4. Darksiders
Amazing "Zelda-clone" that managed to surpass the game it influenced so much due to the amazing lore behind it. I just love me some Horsemen lore!

5. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
An expansion that managed to change the entire game - literally! I now have fun leveling 1 through 60 again. And just can't stand 60-80 anymore.

6. Call of Duty: Black Ops
Not bad, not bad at all. Better than Modern Warfare 2 - still hasn't beat Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare though!

7. The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom
I wouldn't have even realized this came out, if it weren't for GiantBomb. I like working on the economy and logistics of a nation. So the game worked out great for me.

8. Sid Meier's Civilization V
Much like Settlers, but it focused on winning too much. I like working out a nation by taking my time - there's always the pressure of needing to win in Civ 5.

9. Dead Rising 2
Fun little game, nothing too special.

10. Minecraft
I don't care if it came out last year, hasn't come out yet or what. This game needs more coverage just for the insane possibilities! This game is already a legend. Honorable mentions at the bottom of my list.
