I just wanted to post on here to say that, love the game or hate it, this game and its two sequels will be backward compatible on the Xbox One, and enhanced on the X. Actually, my thoughts on FF13 are that it was totally fine. I have most of the Final Fantasy games and played several hours of them all, but 13 is honestly the only one I finished.

It doesn't have anything to do with liking it more than the others though, it's just the one I found the time to get through. I played about 20 hours of XIII-2 but never finished it. My brother didn't get Lightning Returns because of the whole time thing, although him being a much bigger JRPG fan than myself, still wants to play it. I never did mind you. The only Final Fantasy I actually want to go through is 12 really.

I'm still waiting for him to finish it first.

I'm not in any real hurry to get this. I'm sure it's fine. Watching Digital Foundry's video on it. It looks good.

@armaan8014: That part didn't happen; I returned it without running into him and he says 'oh, you really were returning it, ha ha.' or something like that. That said, I did run into a guy in some brush up by Strawberry that was moaning in pain. I was trying to find him to see what was wrong, but I accidentally ran into him and he's like 'oh, why is this happening!?' I wish the game had an hour count because I'd like to know how many hours I've been playing, but it has to be around 25 hours. I just did a handful of fishing missions, one being the main quest, and a couple others just being side activities that more or less teach you about the fishing, but it's cool because they all have personality. It's cool that each and every side task has something unique to it for the most part.

Story mission-wise I'm only about 25 percent the way through. I went into Saint Denis for the first time yesterday, and I love the atmosphere. Walking into a theater/theatre is super cool. Something I also like is that the game can play with expectations. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't and it's a matter of trusting the NPC. There are many strangers that'll call you over for help, and I more often than not am skeptical of what they want, but sometimes they are genuinely helpful which I don't expect (other times they want to rob you). Those kinds of surprises also happen in the story/side missions too where I fully expect, in Rockstar fashion, for most characters to just die for some stupid reason, and yet they survive. Or you have to chase someone down that wronged you, and that hasn't happened really.

The game so far seems to be more serious, and a lot less cynical or joke full than past Rockstar games. There is some of that, but not as much it seems. Oh, I also play the game in the first person, but yesterday turned off the compass so now it's all dynamic and the HUD just pops up when I need it. It's more immersive that way I think.

@armaan8014: Well, I am definitely going to finish it. The game doesn't ask the player to go so slow as to not finish every little story piece there is. That said, it seems it's possible to miss a little of the personality here and there unless you run after people to question them about an occurrence that just happened. Not only that but just when I was playing it I waited until morning for a shop to open up, and right when it was transitioning into the waiting period, a man said 'wait no, don't leave!' inside a gun shop. Unfortunately, I couldn't do anything and when I came to the morning he was gone, and a man was walking about town yelling his friends name out, which makes me think I missed an opportunity. Also, while it still feels relatively natural, I have had two dudes get bitten by a snake where I sucked the venom out so far, and two trees have fallen on people.

In playing the game (99 percent in first person) I find myself taking my sweet time just looking at the world, seeing what people and animals are doing, all the while taking care of my horse. Most modern open world games just don't make me want to do that; it's all run here to do this, run there to do that. RDR may have a checklist of things to do, but it doesn't feel quite like other open world games in that way.

I like being able to check the temperature and time whenever I want, but it's not entirely realistic sometimes. I went back to the mountain from the beginning of the game, and there's a shack across a frozen lake where it told me that it was 50 to 60 degrees although everything was frozen in there, and outside was below 10 degrees. It's a small thing, but it was definitely something that took me out of it.

I don't watch too many quick looks or what have you so I can't tell if it's normal for Brad, but it seems Brad is enjoying it. I'm an hour in and he hasn't really dropped a smile. Also, can you shoulder swap in this like in the first game (and unlike in GTA5)? If you can't, I might just go with the first person for the most part. That's the only thing I'm conflicted about right now with this game since I loved Red Dead Redemption just fine as a third-person shooter, but GTA5 was a little different, and 99 percent of my time with GTA5's remaster was in the first person, which I loved.

Wow. This new format is unexpected. While I'm slightly disappointed (kind of? Maybe?) that the written review is super short, I don't mind that they're doing the video review that way. That's really cool.

I've lived in WA my entire life, and to be honest I don't go to Seattle much at all. That said, I much prefer the few times I've been at night time because there aren't a whole lot of people walking around. It's just kind of weirdly relaxing, and the Public Market at that point is kind of pretty with the Ferris wheel nearby lit up.

Yeah, because of how dull a lot of it is, be it the environments, or lack of intriguing story or side content, I couldn't muster the motivation to get through it any of the times I've tried. I like some of the music tracks, and the gameplay feels fine, but it's just not enough for me. I wish they made another Red Faction in the vein of the first game, which was similar to Half-Life, and yet with a bit of destruction to get around. Also as mentioned by @wallrod, games at that time controlled pretty much like modern games do, with L as aiming down sights of weapons.
