@therealturk: It’s been too long to remember all the reasons, but I recall liking AC1 more than most, finding AC2 bloated and repetitive, and thinking that Brotherhood struck a nice balance of variety given it’s stupid-large open world.

I bet the whole Brotherhood aspect, sending assassins out on missions with cooldowns and shit, does not age well.

AC4 was a breath of fresh air and probably my favorite of the series, but Brotherhood was a close second.

EDIT: Oh, Oh, Oh! Oh, shit! Did brotherhood let you tap the d-pad or a bumper to summon a trio of assassins to merc fools? THAT mechanic was fucking great!

Good to hear about Demo Derby!

Bummer about Game Tapes, that’s a another great one, but there’s only so much source data.

@therealturk: I certainly skip a bunch of content due to total disinterest (anime, Pokémon, Nancy Drew, off the top of my head).

I feel like 4-5 years ago, I would have watched videos of those games, knowing that the videos would be super entertaining.

The double-edged sword here, is that I’m less likely to watch stuff on games I plan to play, so I can experience it myself. It’s a tough spot...

I’m certainly watching less. I’m more likely to watch archival stuff, at this point. I rewatched all of TANG for the 10th or so time recently. I don’t know if that was a Ryan/Vinny thing, all the goofy video editing throwing Ryan or Luchadeer into movie scenes, but it felt like those two were having a ton of fucking fun.

There are still great moments, like all the Temporary Secretary stuff, but they’re fewer and further between.

The return of Team GFB has become my go-to podcast. I’m behind on all GB podcasts and, for the first time, don’t really mind. I’m watching Netflix stuff instead of GB videos on my Roku. I still check in, hoping for something to grab me, and figure I’ll continue to do so for at least a few months.

I really want to get all-in on GB again. There’s good stuff. Ranking of Fighters is interesting, if not always fun/funny/entertaining. Business Dave’s Top 10s are probably the best active content on the site, but I usually just fast-forward through UPF to get to it, then stop UPF once Dave leaves. I’ll always listen to Vinny talk about overeating. That Domino’s segment was fantastic!

A lot of it does, I think, boil down to what feels like a general lack of energy and investment. I don’t listen to ANY hip-hop, but I’d be happy to hear folks talk about that, if that’s what brought out the energy. Hell, with Arrow Pointing Down, I listened to reviews of fucking Gatorade (and loved it)!

I would be curious if regular Jeff/Vinny content would help me reinvest in the site. Their ad reads from the Bombcast were better than most of the content over the past year. And that’s not an attack on current content, the Small Business Man routine was amazing. I get that the odds of either of them having that chemistry remotely, or especially either of them moving, or incredibly low, though...

There’s certainly negativity swelling on the forums. It’s been here and there for a year or two, folks putting up posts about how they’re done here. It seems to have come to a head around GOTY (again), but this time, it’s lingering. I just hope folks understand that a lot of it comes from a positive place. I’d love to see a return to form. I’m pulling for the crew. I’ve been here since day one, and whatever happens, this place had an AMAZING run for several years, weathered all sorts of changes, kept changing and evolving...it’s pretty miraculous. I guess it just changed and evolved, in recent years, into something less for me. I’m getting to be okay with that.

@thegame983: Weird. I thought most people thought it was too weighty.

I’m a weighty controls guy, so I’m very happy with the gameplay.

While Skyrim is great, and I’ve been playing Bethesda games since Daggerfall, it always felt too much like a sword attached to a camera, for my liking.

I like my shooters to feel like Chronicles of Riddick, Killzone 2, or Wolfenstein The New Order.

At the end of the day, it’s a preference. There are scores of things that go into making a game great, and I’m cool playing very twitchy or weighty games, as long as the total package is a good time.

Those are fun features. I’d love to see more of them.

My usual routine on work nights is to shut my brain off with some Giant Bomb on Roku. I already only watch a small minority of content (the site has become broad over the years, which is fine, but that just means that only some content appeals to me), but that routine is all but dead over the past month.

There was a ranking of fighters, though...AND it covered Street Fighter 2, so that’s good!

@wardcleaver: Yeah, I got a Kinect out of curiosity and because I knew the kids would dig it.

Happy Action Theater, Kinect Party, and especially The Gunstringer (and The Wavy Tube Man Chronicles) were all massive hits. Kinectimals, Just Dance, Kinect Adventures, and others were all also well received.

My son spent and insane amount of time importing his toys into Googly Eyes, from Kinect Labs.

I won’t pretend it was awesome, but it had its moments and was perfect for a father of young children.

Plenty of games to play, not enough time to dedicate to them.

Take your time. Make it awesome. I’ll be here.

My son got into WWE, so I watched some pay per views with him. We already do plenty together, so while it was nice to spend time with him, I really didn’t care for the shows. He stopped watching about a year ago, I guess.

I found a nice middle ground with Lucha Underground. It was like Mortal Kombat (silliness, drama, some mysticism and magic) meets wrestling. We both dug that enough and watched the seasons that were on Netflix.

Since then, I’ve dabbled. AEW is fun. NJPW’s G1 is probably the most entertaining thing I’ve seen. Those Omega/Okada matches are basically amazing action movies.

I guess I should note that even when he was watching WWE, he basically watched pay per views and youtube highlights of the regular shows. He had no interest in watching Raw or Smackdown. He did go to a couple of house shows and a Raw, and really enjoyed the live atmosphere.
