Forbidden Love...

Here's some games that I really do enjoy, even though most people write them off.

List items

  • A new $5.99 gift from my wife for Christmas '09. It was a joke that turned out to be pretty fun. Sure, the unintentional-humor factor weighs-in heavily to my enjoyment of the game, but I still like it. Best. Gears. Clone. Ever.

  • More unintentional humor saving the day. The game actually had some nice features that Gears was sorely missing (being able to drag a downed player while he shoots), but it was overall pretty wonky. If not for the horribly written main characters and their awful antics, it'd be entirely forgettable. Note that Army of Two: The 40th Day will never make this list as the developers were aware of their idiot heroes. You can tell that they reacted to criticism and their leads end up being generic and forgettable.

  • My inspiration for this list. I enjoy it despite it not being very good. It's just bat crap nutty (see El Elegido's entrance for proof) and tries to grab what was great about AKI's grapplers, which is okay by me.

  • Guess what? Despite the lack of maps and modes, the too-high-for-an-online-only-game price tag and the mishandling of a loved license, THIS GAME IS REALLY GOOD! I spent a TON of time playing Shadowrun. Take a shooter that feels basically like Halo:CE, throw in magic abilities and technical enhancements for purchase, and you've got a fun game. The balance here is great, too. So many ways to play and they're all valid and balanced.
