@joshwent: Thanks for the heads up, I looked over the rules to see if there was anything about YouTube video and there wasn't. Either way I'll edit the main post to contain more text. :)

EDIT - My bad, there is some information on YouTube spam, but I had to click through 3 pages to find it. I think I've got enough commentary on my own video for it to not be considered spam.

I think it really depends on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, if they are good the game could really catch on. Considering most console MMOs have been pretty large flops.

Whatever happens it will be interesting to see how things turn out. :)

Indeed it does, it's due to come out in about 4 months.

I recently made a a video about why I think The Elder Scrolls Online will remain subscription based for some time to come.

I personally think it shares a few traits with that of World of Warcraft when it first came out. World of Warcraft was so popular partly because of how it convinced people who had never played an MMO before to pay for a subscription. It was one of the first MMOs that had simple questing and really fast loading times so you could jump in and play for 5 minutes or 5 hours. While TESO isn't groundbreaking like WoW was I think it has the potential to get a number of people to play the game who have never touched an MMO before. Millions of people bought Skyrim and I'm sure they want to experience the same world even if the gameplay is very different.

Ultimately I think there's enough of an audience to keep the subscription model afloat for some time to come. Many people will tell you how the game is awful but at the end of the day it's based in the world of TES. That alone is enough for people to buy the game and pay a subscription.

You can watch that video here:

While I don't agree with many things Bethesda are doing I think there will be enough players to keep the game subscription based for the next few years. Do you agree or disagree with me? Why?
