Oginam: Best of 2010

List items

  • This is what I want from Assassin's Creed. The game play delivered is getting tighter and tighter. The multiplayer was a blast, a little buggy, but a great addition to the franchise. The single player story was interesting enough and, as usual, ends on a great high note and cliffhanger.

  • I'm a fan of westerns, so when this game came out I figured it was worth a shot. I honestly hadn't heard anything about it until it was released, but with so many podcasts talking about its narrative and world, I ran out to pick it up. It never let me down, constantly showing me different scenery and classic western stories. The characters are very memorable, well built, and true enough to the world itself. And the that world is also beautiful, so much nicer than the oppressive cities found in GTA. A great game, with no equal in the western genre and the best Rockstar game ever.

  • A non-stop thrill ride with a great cast of characters, locales, and subplots. ME continues to be the most rich and well told sci-fi story in video games. Its hard to believe it came out in 2010, and all of its DLC as well, and that I've been literally playing this game or its DLC for most of this year. Bioware continues to impress and keep me on the edge of my seat, just waiting for the next installation in this series.

  • I loved Fallout 3, so much so that its one of my most played games ever. I haven't fallen for New Vegas in the same way but I can clearly see it as the better game. The story, dialogue, characters, and world are well built and capitalize on many of F3's shortcomings.

  • Despite its departure from the typical Castlevania title, LoS does an amazing job of feeling like its name-sake. The story can seem a tad bit cheesy at times, but the end result and constant influx of Patrick Stewart more than make up for it. A game that will be overlooked or passed off as a flat GoW clone, Castlevania deserves at least a spot on my top ten.

  • The best worst game I have ever played. I would make this number one on my list if only other people would. Fuck, not only did I play this game, I watched every minute of both endurance runs for it. So bad and yet so good at the same time, ARGH!

  • Another solid entry in the detective with sidekick puzzler. The story is a great twist and a half, just what I'd expect from the series. The puzzles and minigames felt very polished, with only a small bit of repetition in the mid-game.

  • A great new start for Lara Croft.

  • A great racing game that had just enough problems to turn people off to it. It was a little slow off the line and just never caught up. A great game none the less.

  • THATS RIGHT! I found a way to get a Persona game on my list. Released in 2010! Woot!
