Someone please explain if Super Paper Mario was bad.

Sorry Mario, your hoarding issues are a problem, not a fun gameplay mechanic.

Because I seem to remember it being awesome or something. Yet for some reason everyone on this site seems to hate it for no apparent reason beyond "It was not Thousand-Year Door." I can check the boxes for both games for you and confirm that you are at least right about that. Or maybe it was just one dude sprinting to every single thread on the Paper Mario boards because he just has to have everyone hear his important opinions.

Heh. I have no idea what that is like.

And why is Sticker Star going to be bad just because it has stickers and no helper characters? What on Earth is wrong with that? "Help help, this RPG looks simplistic in video form!" "They changed things! I hate change! I also hate when things stay the same too! Everything is bad and I refuse to be happy about any of it!" Its not like a different developer has taken over the series or something, and every Paper Mario game has been awesome so fa- oh wait, I forgot that Super Paper Mario is bad. Never mind....

I don't know what to tell you. I -loved- Super Paper Mario. It was hella fun. I missed out on Thousand Year Door when it released, but I personally am not a fan of that game when I did play it.

I'm also excited for Sticker Star.

Super Paper Mario was fucking rad, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I'm excited for Sticker Star.

Super Paper Mario was very good and is one of my favorite games on the Wii, but I probably did like "Thousand Year Door" a bit more.

As for the new game, I haven't played it, but some of the early stuff I've heard about it sounds a bit strange. It sounds almost like they tried to make a game that is an amalgamation of the "Mario & Luigi" and "Paper Mario" RPGs along with "Super Paper Mario", but didn't quite figure it out.

Yeah, I too loved SPM. I think it is just one of those paradoxes where Nintendo is blamed for constantly redoing old game concepts, but also blamed for being stubbornly innovative in a franchise people want to stay the same. Thousand Year Door isn't going anywhere, you can always go back and play it, and I don't see the merit in building on such a beloved game. Clearly, they got that one right the first time.

As for Sticker Star, I'm about two hours in and, yeah this is a really early opinion, but it might be the best two hours I've had with my 3DS so far. So I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where it goes.
