Braid

The experience garnered from this game is truly beautiful.

I have not played such an intelligent and thought-provoking game since Half-Life 2.

What do points make? No not prizes...

What do points make?
Looking at what lengths people go to on Xbox Live and now the PSN, it was obvious people are more willing to participate in something if they receive a reward.

To offer points as an incentive for adding content to the site is a great idea, really it is.

However, even though the site is barely a week old it's already apparent that people simply want points irrelevant of their input. Having used the new image tool for just a few minutes, it is clear that the moderators have a very difficult job. Stop uploading watermarked images, it's lazy.

What is most annoying though is the reaction some people have to their submissions not being moderated in a timely or fair manner. I can understand it may be frustrating, but if you have an a real issue with it just don't bother contributing.

The site is barely a week old, let it mature.

Soulfly - Conquer

Soulfly - Conquer

The sixth studio album from Soufly, Conquer

The first half of the record is much stronger than the latter, but that's only because the relentless pace subsides and more methodical experimentation is introduced.

The salvo of Blood Fire War Hate, Unleash, Paranoia, Warmageddon and Enemy Ghost is the best opening since the self titled album released in 1998.

Fall of  the Sychophants
and My Path are probably my favourite tracks, echoing the incredible muscianship seen on the track The Song Remains Insane (Soufly).

Dark Ages was good (if over-produced and safe), but I feel Conquer  manages to capture the essence of what Max started way back when with Sepultura:

Brutal, raw, instinctive, emotive, crazy, subversive and most importantly...metal.

Settling in

Well despite a few technical issues (expected) I'm settling in nicely to this new home. It's great to meet some new friends.

Even though the launch of the site is only a few days old, everything has a familiarity to it. Having listened to all of the Giant Bomb casts (even the early few under the guise of Arrow Pointing Down) I feel that I've been on the same journey. One that began with the departure of Jeff from his former employees.

I'm well aware that Jeff would like to forget about those dark moments in his career, I can't blame him. What I will say though is that for every second of sadness he endured, we were right behind him...

A new home

I wonder if Giant Bomb would even exist were it not for the incident; a low point in the gaming industry has given birth to something truly exciting...
