Top 5 Favorite Games of All Time

This probably comes as no surprise to someone who knows me, but the Zelda games have impacted me in a big way. Ocarina of Time was the first real adventure game where I truly felt a part of and connect to. There was never a time before or after this game that I felt that I was a hero and that nothing could stand in my way. Every dungeon was designed to be challenging and fun, the characters to be worthwhile friends or mysterious bystanders, and the villains to be indescribably evil or wicked.
Oh, and my favorite dungeon is the water temple - yea suck it!
"Another Zelda game?!" You say. "Dude this should be number one! " You say. Well GiantBomb doesn't quite let me have two number ones so this will have to do. Link to the Past in my books is almost - if not - on par with Ocarina of Time. The reason why I chose to stick it in second was mostly due to the lack of Epona/noble steed. Now you may be thinking that's a stupid thing to nit pick about - but to me traversing the world is almost as important as the world itself and having a trusty steed for a hero is a must. Don't get me wrong, the Pegasus boots are amazing ( and some might consider it as a form of "mounted battle" ) but I had to chose and really I'd prefer Epona over them. Again, so damn close it's not even measurable.
"Duder, seriously, AGAIN?! " Uh yea. Link's Awakening was my first ever Zelda hand held experience. I remember one of my friends letting me borrow it and from then on I had to get a copy of my own. A bit lower on the list in terms of personal rankings than OoT or LttP this game was like LttP on the go. The music, the environments ( despite the 2D nature ) and the SIDE QUESTS! Personally I think the side quests in the hand held Zelda games were by far the best. They were much simpler and felt more in place with the world than the full on console versions did. But then again I was pretty young at the time.
Ballad of the Windfish 4 life!
"Come on, be original." No. The Pokemon games have always held a special place in my gaming heart and for good reason. When I was younger I use to watch the Pokemon TV Show every day after school and I clearly remember a friend I use to talk to back in elementary school. We would always trade what we thought the best Pokemon teams would be, the cards we wanted and the stickers we collected, and then when the game was announced what starter we were going to choose. I clearly remember printing off entire Pokedex pages - stat pies and all - of the different Pokemon we wanted, and would argue who would beat who. Unfortunately we never had a chance to fight each other over the link system for whatever reason and the rest is history.
Oh and Bulbasaur is the best Pokemon ever. Period.
"Soul what?" Ha! Soul Blazer was sort of a diamond in the rough type of game for me. I had never heard of it prior to trying it and at the time had no real gauge at the universe of Square or Enix ( although I did know about Final Fantasy ). Again, a friend let me try it and from there I rented it non-stop till I beat it ( parents wouldn't buy me it, which was strange since I spent more money renting it in the long run than it would cost to buy the retail copy ). But from the memorable music and the unique "restoring the world" mechanic I really dove into this game and soaked it up.
Get the paintbrush to enter the painting and fight mechanical robot alien things...so cool!
