Oh hey, I remember playing against you in the vVv Gaming tournament, can't remember if you're still on my friends' list.
Yep, multiplayer in this is straight-broken. I don't think there's any mode that isn't favored towards a lower or higher difficulty. It's a shame, given the variety of modes, and the fact that you can't play 90% of the Battle mixes single-player. All they'd need to do is just have an option that actually locks you to finding someone of an equivalent difficulty. I know this game wasn't that successful, and the community is kind of small, but it's better to have a smaller pool of potential players than have every match be unfairly-balanced.
Quite an old article, but I just recently started playing this game and I absolutely adore it. I almost glazed right over it like everyone else did, but I started watching the currently ongoing "Let's Play" of the game currently in progress on the SomethingAwful forums, and bought it at the first chance I got. Many thanks to Brad for really trying to get the word out about how fantastic this game is!
These comments are starting to remind me of when Microsoft announced the Avatar support in their New Xbox Experience; "A gaming company is taking a successful idea and creating their own adaption of it? OH MY GOD WHAT A GIANT RIPOFF THEY HAVE NO SHAME". Hahahaha...guess what happened when MS did that, guys? They completely and seamlessly integrated the Avatar system into their IP, which has been a huge success and, like everyone is saying, is still completely optional.
I've always found that the base concept of the Wii has been a great one, but too much focus was taken away from the strength of the hardware to realize it, and it always felt like I was playing last-gen games, but with a new control system. I believe that this will finally bring both elements together as they always should have been. Like another commenter said, provide a great middle-ground between markets to appeal to everybody, casual and dedicated markets included. Now for god's sakes, stop whining about this; you can completely ignore it and play your own games while some of us actually enjoy this new control system.
