The life of a gamer

Gaming is a lifestyle. People that play games acquire it as a lifestyle and there's nothing that could stop it for being a lifestyle to people. Some people that smoke say to gamers that to quit smoking is as hard as to quit gaming. But smoking is something you do, something you're sticked to. Gaming is a lifestyle. Im not saying it is life, but it is something that you love. Gamers like you and me like video games. Video games might be for people that enjoy it, simply and want to spend their life on it. But for some children or just adults, if they get made fun of, feel bad, get bullied, they want to play video games to feel that they are something that is accepted and something that they are not and want to be. Many like different genres of gaming. Some are ''hardcore'' gamers which goes for example for the evil ending in video games, they playthrough every game many times on, for example, CoD, they playthrough Veteran to get the achievement. And if they're is a different ending-game, they playthrough to get every ending. Its a stereotype and is for some bullshit, but to some its true. Some call themselves Hardcore gamers and they're will absolutely be some people that say: ''Get the fuck out, nerd!'' and alike. Then they are Softcore gamers, which always go with normal difficulty, *SPOILER OF HITMAN BLOOD MONEY* choose the, for example, Agent 47 dies in the funeral ending because they don't have the ''guts'' or the ''skill'' to shoot everyone.*SPOILER OF HITMAN BLOOD MONEY*. It's still a stereotype, but to some its true. Some people like shooters, some like RPG's, some like sport games, some like adventure games, there are more than 50 genres to choose that you like best, so be yourself.

What are you...

Everybody plays games nowadays. Seriously, who gets bullied for playing video games? Granted, it's been 10 years since I was in high school, but even then, the popular guy that was making fun of the loser was probably playing games too. He just didn't look and act like the typical nerdy loser. "Nerd" is hardly ever used anymore and "geek" has become a compliment.
Gaming can be a lifestyle, but it doesn't make you a martyr.

Or you could do something significant with your life, enjoy things in moderation and not label yourself or what you do.

Gaming for me is a religion, and Haze is the shit.

"gaming for me is a religion... and Haze is the shit!"

Hahahahaha

Seriously though I enjoy videos games but don't let them become the focus of my life (aside from the fact that I'm trying to get a job in the video game industry).

This. Well, not exactly this, but close enough.

Not everyone is going to do something necessarily significant with their lives. Having a meaningful existence is probably more important. Enjoy the company of others, and explore the great wealth of things our world offers, but, obviously, enjoy games in the capacity that they provide: a pass-time activity.

I didn't say that they get bullied for playing games. They get bullied for being different or something else that is offending.

I still get laughed at for gaming.

I mean, I don't play Call of Duty, so I'm still weird.
But who cares, I love it, I'm doing my favorite thing :P.

Also, people still make fun of gamers in general media (ie Southpark) only because it's easy and can be funny.  Do they perpetuate stereotypes that suck for us?  Sure.  But so do other gamers.

Those times have passed(Thank god), but I still remember when my collegues laughed at me while I was talking with my friends about video games, and after that proceeded with talking about videogames themselves.
Games are awesome, and no matter who you are, you can't deny it.

gaming has changed man. now everyone plays games, at least a little bit from the wii. there are still those people that play games and beat them a bunch of times.

I actually try to make sure "gaming" doesn't become my "lifestyle". Of course I love games, and that's why I'm a member of this site, but I try not to let myself spend too much time playing them.

They're instantly gratifying but if I spend more than 2 hours a day playing them I end up with a deep feeling of malaise.

I would say gaming is one of my passions. something that i enjoy doing and reading up on, but i wouldnt its my lifestyle though.
