@MikkaQ: Ah man. That hurts. I just don't want people to forget what Mass Effect stands for, and the effect it can have on a person. It might be the biggest gaming tragedy of all time so far, but Mass Effect 2 was also the biggest gaming triumph of all time so far.

WUT.

Goddamn it, I was looking forward to the small-scale tactical RPG that was apparently being worked on. At least there's Wasteland 2.

Not in this era of gaming. I agree that EA's DLC has gone too far, but it could still have been a separate team and resources devoted to it on the basis people would pay for it, and putting it on disc is a courtesy to those who don't want to download it.

If you're really unlucky like me you can't get the game to run at all after installation without resorting to a 'scene' .exe. However, this locks you out of the coop component.

(a) Desperately needs FOV option and more graphics options in general (b) extreme and garish lighting effects (c) short and terrible campaign (d) the meat of the game is in the coop but I haven't been able to play it, prolly not worth full-price or even half-price for just that component though (e) too influenced by CoD (f) wastes opportunities to establish setting and narrative (g) Origin is incredibly inept. Avoid.

I've been following the game and am very interested but given that it may take a long time to come out, if at all, I don't want to get my hopes up. That said, a proper party-based RPG with micromanagement and survival mechanics involving zombies would be great.

Probably my most anticipated new IP. It sounds fantastic on paper, am looking forward to seeing more.

Syndicate sold badly because on PC its on Origin (the worst service I've ever used), on console it's up against Battlefield and CoD, and it won't appeal to a more niche crowd because it's a cynical reboot with nothing the least bit distinctive or unique. Shit game too, deserved to fail.

@James_Giant_Peach: MMOs have developed distinctive mechanics and design that singleplayer action RPGs have started to copy, such as Kingdoms of Amalur.

Jeff in general is laidback and sardonic. Try not to confuse his 80s-90s Californian sensibilities with hostility. And he's also quite forthright with things he doesn't like about games no matter the publisher. It also doesn't help that Jeff isn't into MMOs of the singleplayer or multiplayer variety.

If it's a small or midrange developer, it either sucks or is meh, with the occasional exception. If it's a large dev with a substantial fanbase and lots of marketing, you get a free pass for churning out shit to mediocre games.
