1. Amnesia: The Dark Descent
One of the best indie games available to date on Steam. Frictional Games are great at making atmospheric, genuinely scary adventure games.

2. Avadon: The Black Fortress
Not without issues, but an undeniably solid RPG. The combat poses a decent challenge and the setting is reasonably well-realised, it could just do without some dubious design decisions (restrictive class and character builds, lack of complexity, trash mobs/loot, balance, etc.).

Excellent art style, good soundtrack, and entertaining (albeit a little slow-paced) tile-based combat and exploration make this one a reasonably safe bet for the RPG enthusiast.
