A bad comic about Mario

So, a couple months ago I started what many might call a crazy challenge of drawing one bad comic a day for an entire year: 365 BAD COMICS. This began on July 1, 2012, and will end in June 2013, and I plan to compile them all into a nice book to sell at comic conventions next year. I refer to these as "bad comics" in that the jokes are so bad, they are good. Your mileage may vary, of course. I go for a lot of puns and literal takes on things. Anyways, I just passed the 100 comics mark recently and did one about a certain famous videogame plumber, my first videogame-based comic so far. Here, take a look:

If you'd like to see more of my comics or follow along in hopes of more bad jokes about videogames, I have both a Tumblr site and a Facebook page for these. Thanks in advance if you liked or took a look! If you hated it, well...no thanks for you.

Quick Look: The Carrot on a String Teases

There's a part of me that's crazy, and that part pays attention to the "Coming Up On Giant Bomb" app on the homepage. When a Quick Look is announced and given a time and date, I immediately put it to memory so as not to miss out on the latest and greatest playing/commentary. Especially if Vinnie is involved.

Today, the site promised Quick Looks for Shoot Many Robots and Rayman 3 HD. Alas, they came and went, like writing on a chalkboard, brushed off in a single swoop, gone from view, but somehow still viewable. Given the site's recent move zaniness, I'd let them off the hook...yet this has happened a number of times before, and my crazy little mind just can't get over such teasing. All in all, it might as well read as so:

Sigh...

The EverQuest is a lie

So, I'm closing in on that sweet spot of nearly 5,000 points of Wiki edits here on GiantBomb, which is totally awesome. One, it means I will soon be able to make edits without having to wait for approval. Two, well...that's a big number. And big numbers rock. Three, I dunno. Glad I could do something useful for the site. The truth of the matter is this though: 2,122 of my Wiki points are untrue. Fake, false, tricksy. Take a look here:

Back in March 2011, something happened. I was surfing around the site, trying to find answers to Quests, and I figured that EverQuest, as one of the largest and earliest MMORPGs, would be tied to one of 'em. Can't recall if it was or wasn't, but I know I did not spend a ton of time on its Wiki page. If anything, I might have made a single copy edit--I'm an editor in real life, and sometimes it is hard to resist correcting somebody's incorrect use of your/you're or it's/its--but that would be it. I did not add anything new to the EverQuest page because, and this is the kicker, I know nothing about it. Never played the game. So far, my only time with a MMORPG is Glitch, and there's probably an entire city of people screaming that that's not really an MMORPG. All I know about EverQuest is that there's...uh, elves in it. I think?

According to wiki history, I added 2,122 points worth to the game's page in a single sitting. Yowza.

This impressive bit of oddness was enough to get the curious cat Marino interested, and a PM discussion happened where we tried to figure this out. No answers. I guess he was just concerned about defending his home turf as Marino's wiki edits for EverQuest are...well 29,000+. I'm next on the list, and then there's a few scragglers coming up short with 100 points of edits after that. It's like playing that game One of These is Not Like the Others.

Again, I've never played the game before. I never made those edits. Nobody has access to my account, and if they did, I find it strange that they chose me as a vehicle to drive this page up the road. This happened months ago, and it still bothers me. I feel like it'll continue to bother me, as there is no seemingly sane answer, and I just have to chalk it up to a weird bug, one that only two people noticed.

When I hit 5,000 points, it's going to feel unreal. Mostly because it is.

Professor Layton and the Scariest Face in Misthallery

Been enjoying Professor Layton and the Last Specter as of late, but only up to a point, and that point is here, fours hours in, now known as the beginning and end of all my future nightmares:

Question time!

Is Nabby a...?

  • A. Boy
  • B. Girl
  • C. Single-toothed dinosaur demon
  • D. Other (please supply answer)

Your answers might very well be the only thing that now help me sleep. Make 'em funny.

Big things in little packages!

On the flip side, I've really been enjoying London Life, which is like 75% Animal Crossing and 25% RPG, with the focus mainly on fetch quests and trying out different outfits. Currently, Little London Pauly is rocking a fancy top hat and snow white suit:

I've been more into the formality clothes than the goofy outfits, though walking around as a large berry is somewhat delightful. Also, I have a pair of turtle shoes that I don't know what to do with--note, these are not shoes made from turtles, but shoes that look like turtle feet. Hmm...

Here's my tiny room, too:

I really hope I can eventually move into a bigger pad as my toy collection is growing out of hand. Used to have a roommate, but he wasn't down with my design skills so he packed his invisible bags and left. I have other screenshot photos taken, but I'm having a hard time inserting them into this blog post; every time I do, it takes the newest upload image and puts it at the top of the blog post. Maybe this is the main reason I blog more at Grinding Down than GiantBomb...

Um, yeah. That's it, I guess.

Blogging, but I already have a blog!

It's true. I do. I even had it featured on the front page of Wordpress.com for a whole seven days, which...y'know, gave me fame and fortune instantly. Ka-ching. Well, no, it didn't. But I did get some new subscribers and a lot of views.

It's called Grinding Downhttp://grindingdown.wordpress.com/

I talk about videogames there. It's powered by the letter R for RANDOM. Not sure if I'll really use this blog space here for much more than completing a Quest because, truthfully, it's tough enough running one of these things consistently and with some kind of quality control.
