Title is two-fold in referring to my university education and E3. Graduated with a 2:1 degree (B grade), and it looks as though I have a job lined up (not degree level of course); finally something to put on the CV. Degree, job (hopefully): real life apparently...

But to more interesting things... the GiantBomb E3 podcasts/streams were hilarious, love it. Quick general thoughts:

The New 360. A bit funny looking, but the expanded memory and built-in wi-fi are nice features. Not nearly enough for me to invest out right, but to replace a failured box or for an extra, I could be tempted.

Motion control. The Metal Gear watermelon shennanigans (Metal Gear Rising, or Uprising?; don't recall the exact title) was fun, and the actual in-level footage that was shown looked mighty impressive. On the other hand, the difficulty with the Zelda stage demo was a little discouraging (although that seemed to be an isolated incident). Still, the way that enemies change their block (and hence force you to change your attack) could be cool.

3D. I still don't care, but many skeptics seem to have had their stances changed by what was on show. Even if it doesn't interest me greatly, I hope it turns out well.

The games. I'm a bit behind in this area (hence why I'm going to run through the archive), but a couple of things caught me. The two XBLA summer titles, Limbo and Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, looks fantastic. The latter in particular looks great and has a bit of a twist on the typical Castlevania formula (and multiplayer!). Add to that Kirby's Epic Yarn, which has an art style I absolutely love.

Music games. I've been out of Rock Band/Guitar Hero for a couple of years and I've built up some competance on the real guitar; the direction the genre is going in is interesting, and I'd very much like to try out the "pro" modes of these games. Only question is how the note highway is displayed in these modes, or even if it will be replaced by something different.

That's all. Quick thoughts on the World Cup so far: slow start, getting better. I'm not English, but I have some sympathy with their fans and players regarding the press madness that inevitably follows. I don't really care who wins, as long as we're treated to some good football.

@Wilkins_III:  Thanks man, yeah, things seem to be looking up at the moment. Hopefully things keep moving along nicely at the end of the year and into the next.
 
I'm still on a 20GB (a.k.a. 13GB) hard drive, so I've been feeling the limits over the last few months. That has been eased a bit by the 16GB memory stick I bought though, in the process of loading it with all my old XBLA games.
 
By nature I'm not much of a dancer, but Dance Central looked impressive (way ahead of anything else on the market/on the way). Could be great for parties. And on the music games: the attempt to bridge the gap and teach the fundamentals is fantastic, but the price could be a real stumbling block. I've lost track of all the options available, but to my current knowledge, there will be two types of guitar peripherals: an actual six stringed guitar that can be plugged into an amp and played, and another one with [17 (frets) x 6 (strings)] amount of buttons. A cheap entry level guitar will probably set you back about £80-100 as a point of reference, and I remember hearing the Squier name coming up (though unsure if it was an actual Squier guitar that doubles as a controller or a controller with lots of buttons based on it). Even it is considered the budget line of Fender, they are good guitars and can be pretty expensive (I have a Squier Stratocaster that set me back a bit when I bought it three years or so ago).
 
I'm hoping the Brazil - Ivory Coast game later is a good one. Both attacking sides so could be good.

Congrats on your degree! Nice to hear things are going really well for you at the moment.
 
Yeah, the 250 gig hard drive is definitely tempting. I bought a 120 gig HDD maybe a year ago, so I'm not in any immediate need for double that, but it's definitely something to consider if/when my current 360 breaks down and insurance doesn't cover it.
 
The only Kinect or Move game that appeals to me so far is Dance Central. Limbo looks great. Castlevania looks interesting.
 
Recently, I've started playing a bit of Rock Band, partly because there's been a surprising amount of DLC that matches with my music tastes, and partly because of Green Day: Rock Band. The Rock Band 3 announcements -- particularly the Pro mode -- sound great, but I'm concerned about how much it'll cost.
 
World Cup has been a bit disappointing so far. England not performing has sucked. From my perspective, it's great to see the Asian teams performing admirably. I've always had a soft spot for the South Korean football team, so I'm hoping they'll get through. They didn't deserve to be beaten by that scoreline against Argentina. Some surprising and compelling matches, too -- Spain going down to Switzerland, Germany undone by Serbia.
