@shingro: I'd argue that what you call 'casual' gaming is a hell of a lot more interesting than anything Activision's franchises have been making lately.
I feel a little silly being so broken up over a guy I've never met before, but this hurts pretty bad. I drew a picture while re-watching videos of Ryan at his best. It made me feel a little better.
As far as I'm concerned, Hayder's send-off in MGS4 was a perfect ending for my relationship with that "voice". I'll be sad to not hear his growl in the new one, but Keifer Sutherland is an excellent actor so at least there's a tangible trade-off!
@The_Laughing_Man: Sadly, that's probably one of the reasons why they were closed. I used to work at Gamestop, they obsess over preorders and magazine subscriptions. Used to be they'd give commission. Then they just said "Do it or you're fired".
Man I loved that thing. I still remember the first day I played one when I was 14. It was Christmas time, drizzling outside, and I was playing some Jak and Daxter. The Sentinel Beach theme kicked in and I was in love.
I need to get me another PS2. My old one busted and I hate playing PS2 games on my PS3 because of the input lag.
I'm super sorry to be 'that' guy, but this sentence really bothers me:
"While driving through Illinois farm country this weekend, a store selling farm equipment propped a telling sign out front: “Do a rain dance, please!”
This is implying that the store selling farm equipment is the subject driving through Illinois farm country. Instead, it should read:
"While driving through Illinois farm country this weekend, I saw a store selling farm equipment with a telling sign propped out front: "Do a rain dance, please!"
Again, sorry. But I loved the article. I haven't had the chance to play The Line (and I may never will, considering how I spoiled the game's ending(s) for myself), but I'm glad to see developers out there trying to do something somewhat unique with the medium of interactive story telling.
@Kill: I've always turned my nose up at people who treat Super Smash Bros as anything other than what it is: a crazy fun party game with Nintendo characters. I began hating SSBM because every time my friends came over to play it, it would inevitably be a Fox/Fox/Falco/CaptainFalcon fight on Final Destination.
Link is a low-tier fighter? Who the fuck cares, I like playing as him anyway.
