@Bass: @paradox121: @goodlucktj: edited my post to reflect this article. Yeah 3d support was going to happen, I was refering more to the one controller, online structure, graphics capabilites and well, limitations it appears to have even before it comes out.

So you posted a negative comment before even bothering to read the article? Huh.
How I love the internet.

Nintendo is making all the wrong moves. Every article since E3 simply leaves me baffled on what they intend to accomplish with the new console.

Wait...its bad that they're supporting 3D?
Geez, I can understand people ragging on them if they'd come out and said they wouldn't allow 3D support, but this is just an extra feature that is entirely optional and entirely up to developers to use.

The whole Nanako thing in Persona 4 (you know the part) had me teary.

Definitely this.
The P4ER on the whole had moments that not necessarily had me tearing up but definitely getting a little choked. Equally Nier and Enslaved had their times.

Meh. I get there's no real way to make Robin look cool and fit in the Arkham visual style but...you equally don't need to make him a 'ruggish thug'.
Apparently I was reading earlier in the week that it's because this Robin is a cagefighter. Wat.

It pains me to hear everyone be generally dismissive of Journey. :[

I don't think they were dismissive so much as just taking the piss out of Brad for struggling to describe it. Even so, I doubt many of the guys will like it in the end but meh....
Like people have said, it was recorded on a Friday so everyone was probably tired and itching to go out 4th July-ing. I found it weird because it was almost like a quick look recap, where they all basically described what had happened while they played the games for the quick looks to each other.

Ashley wore skin tight armor in the first game, and she really doesn't look THAT much different other than her hair being down and the make-up.(If she's not a soldier anymore than it's only logical that the butchosity would come down a notch.)

I appreciate that it makes sense from a story point of view but equally I doubt the designers at Bioware were thinking this through and then 'Whoops, we made her hot'. My point being its more likely to go Vague Story Idea > Characer Design > Fleshed Out Story

To be fair, she's probably the most understated woman of modern games. But at the same time, I get your point. They're certainly...there.
It's just the way games are made, which is horribly worrying. The sad fact is most women in games are sexualised in some way because the highest proportion of people playing games (non casual ones at least) are still men. Look at what's happened to Ashley between Mass Effect 1 and 3. As ever, sex sells, no matter how subtle it may be.

@Bass: Most definitely. I'd be interested to see how you'd go about making a mature Zelda game that's still loyal to the series if nothing else. But like you say, there have been lots of mature moments throughout the series. Link friggin stabbed his best friend (albeit in a dream) in Twilight Princess. I love a good bit of grittiness in my games. Arguably that's one of the things Darksiders was lacking-
"Hey War, you started the Apocalypse and killed all the humans."
"Did I? Oops, I done screwed up! Guess I better brood about it."

Really great blog post thng.

I think Darksiders was definitely an interesting game, both to play and see the reaction to. Leading up and during release people seemed to lambaste it for being a Zelda rip off and that if was a bit of a try hard. Then, for some reason, a little bit after everyone started saying it was the most 'unique Zelda for years' and that it was what they wished Zelda was.

I loved Darksiders for what it was. It definitely had clear Zelda vibes but you could also argue it had clear Metroid vibes. It was nice to see a 'mature' (I hate that term) game have item progression and a heavy focus on exploration. The combat was a bit meh, as were the enemy designs and story, but it was nice for what it was. In no way, either positively or negatively, does it really need to be compared to Zelda.  Zelda's never gonna be designed for the dudebros. TP is about as mature as its gonna get because you need that sense of whimsy and childlike fun to make it a Zelda game. Miyamoto has always talked about how Zelda was inspired by him exploring forests as a kid.

To be perfectly honest, I find it a little sad that people are sat around waiting for a dark Zelda as if that will somehow get them re-enchanted with the franchise. I'm all for something in the vein of Majora's Mask which was flat out freaky and disturbing, but dressing Link up in bulky armor and having him grunt and have 'angst' won't make the game any better. It's like demanding Mario starts carrying a gun and swearing just so you can play platformers again.

What I like about the site, though, is that you can find the most popular game by genre, by system, sub filter them by relative age of the members, or by country...it's a really nice aggregation of everyone's favourites.
Doesn't sound all that interesting or special. What would be a little more interesting is if the site would spit out game recommendations based on your past reviews,  can it do that? It seems to be able to find people with similar gaming taste, but I haven't found a way to find similar games or recommended games (only looked for a few seconds and didn't create an account, so I might have missed that). Does anybody know other pages that can recommend games based on how you rate other games (Amazon does it, but not isn't much focused on games)?
Yeah I guess that'd be a nice feature. You can find users with similar interests (it gives you a percentage of similarity), and I guess from there you could find games you may be interested in. I don't know any sites that directly recommend games based on ones you already like though.
