RA3 Beta, NYC, SC3

Man, so the RA3 beta starts REALLY soon. This is turning out to be a pretty good week. I've been busting my ass at work because were understaffed, but by the end of the week I will have had gone to NYC for a day, and probably gotten my RA3 beta invite. On top of this, SC4 comes out next week! I'm going to have to cancel my WoW Subscription, I wont have time for that with all this shit coming out. Not that I have played WoW recently either... Its been almost a month since I Logged in, there's $15 put to good use! haha.

But man, I can't wait for RA3. That beta can not come soon enough. It makes me sad to go back and look at CNC3 and CNC3: Kanes Wrath. Not only were these games riddled with bugs when they first came out, KW had bugs in it that they patched out of CNC3. How they managed to do that is beyond me. On top of all this, the community pretty much killed the game for me. I have never seen a more stuck up, pig headed, narrow minded group of people in my life. Whats worse, is they are all these things, about CNC.

You can't suggest anything positive to the game. Also, you cant add anything fun either. For example. There is a late game power that the Sov's get, where every armored unit (on the ground I believe, so no boats get this) gets a 5% chance to spawn a Tera Drone after they die. People are already bitching about how "EA has ruined yet another RTS with Random Chance" and "No one will play this game on a competitive level if matches are going to be won by chance!" or "Boy I hope I can set it up so that power can't be used..." and then "Yeah, its just like brawl. I liked it untill I found out how random it was. Now I hate it."

It wouldn't bother me so much, if they weren't the vocal part of the community. CNC3 and KW sold over a million copys each, yet there online servers only have 4 to 500 players on a night, at peek hours. It kills me to go to the CNC site and see all these community fetures going to waste. There was so much potential there with CNC3 and KW. Hopefully they can recapture some of that potental with RA3. Atleast we can be assured that the game wont be a online hell whole when it ships at retail. Having a public beta is the smartest thing EALA has done with there RTS's in years.

I really enjoyed C&C3's single player, which is saying something seeing as I'm not crazy into RTS games. I've actually been really looking forward to Red Alert 3 just because it seems so crazy and messed up.

On the complainers, they'll be in every game. The Brawl example is a good one. People seem to be missing the point when they complain about the randomness. The same thing happened with Call of Duty 4's perk system. I guess what I'm saying is that the complainers are going to be there no matter what because they want the game to play their way despite what the developers intended.

Yeah, that is vary true. There is a major part of the CNC online community that comes from gamesreplays.org and the players there worship the disk tray CNC:Generals rests in. For some reason or another they believe that it is the best CNC game ever made, dispite it being the most genaric pile of shit in the CNC series.
