Music games are, as I see them, the least intelligent form of videogame in existence.

That "Oh, it's fun with friends!" argument is irrelevant, so is playing almost any multiplayer game while listening to music. Or getting wasted... Or boning... You get the idea, just because someone and their friends (ya know, the one's that can't grasp the idea that there are games besides GH, Halo, and COD) think it's fun, doesn't mean there's a reason to play it, not when most other videogames exist.

Meh... Had TD since 96 and TS since 99.

Cool for those who, for whatever insane reason, have only played the new ones.

Mostly because it's one of those games.

And by "those", I mean the PC games made to engineer PC users into a console mindset (such that you'll just eat up what ever crap they throw at you). Fortunately, you can just go get System Shock 2 and have a much better time.

Sony owns the rights to the game (and any sequels). It can't be ported.

"WTF? I can't even find who the developer is."

Whenever Activision publishes a Cauldron game, they just take the credit in the US.

That's not only somewhat of a non sequitur, but among the dumbest of things I've yet heard.

Besides, real men care not for the frivolity of "DLC".

The fact that you have to pay for anything on XBL even after you pay a subscitption fee AND $60 for the game is just absurd (except for things like Shivering Isles, that makes sense).

But Halo takes this DLC madness to a new low...

"

Your right, just because you pay $50 a year for Microsoft to maintain, store data, and have the bandwidth to support it there is no reason to pay those developers affiliated with Microsoft or not for content distributed on their service.  Maybe its just the fact that I have been gaming for close to 30 years but it seems to me all DLC has done for gaming is create a bunch of crying little bitches.  Prior to DLC there was nothing for a console to extend a game, and for PC's it was expansion packs that were usually half the cost of the original game or user generated content.  Now there are ways to extend the games and all you read about is how it should be free or originally included in the game.  I agree sometimes its exploited but mostly gamers need to quit complaining like 5 year olds.  As for the topic of this post,  the man hours of reworking their matchmaking could cause the price of the map pack to rise significantly.  They made a hard choice but it was to support their core audience.  They are keeping the price down for those that will still be playing when the summer is over and the few that just want to play now and again can't play ranked. "

Considering that XBL just matches users for P2P connections, they really don't need all the money they get from subscriptions. It could easily be used to pay developers for expansions

Something like the GTA4 DLC is what I would consider a minimum for content that would be considered DLC. Anything else is just pointless (Horse amor? Darth Vader for $5??). If they're going to saturate their catalog with shit that barely effects the game, they may as well just tap into the subscription funds. OH, and devs see very little of the money that comes from the DLC cost. Most of the reason DLC even costs money is because Microsoft (just like any other company) knows stupid people will pay for a stupid product.

Why does everyone seem to think this Milo thing is some sort of technological innovation in itself?

Its like context sensitive animations as opposed to a physics engine. Milo IS NOT some sort of amazingly intelligent robo-child that utilizes "Natal" in any special way. Milo does NOT create unforseen outcomes based on a set of rules, he has a bunch pre-canned responses to user interaction. And it just so happens to use a camera to do that.

Swirling your hand around in fake water is not new or exciting. Having a primitive AI respond predictably to a user with facial recognition is not new or exciting. Flailing madly while attempting to play a solo version of dodgeball is NOT new or exciting. Microsoft is quite clearly attempting to tap into the Wii's non-gamer audience, that's it.

This "Natal" was by far lamest thing I've seen so far this E3 (facebook on XBL being a close 2nd).

"
Beeeecause Peter Mollyneux claimed that it was an amazing technological innovation so amazingly technologically innovative that no science fiction author had ever thought of it.
