I have to admit, at first I was incredibly envious of everyone who got a PS4 and Xbox One at launch, however with the issues that some people seem to be having coupled with games that I could take or leave, I'm glad I didn't pick up new consoles at launch. I'm perfectly content waiting until I get my tax refund and using that money to buy Titanfall and Second Son, games that I'm anticipating, instead of having a brand new Netflix machine.
I can understand the dislike of having ads all over the dashboard when you're paying for a premium service. I don't pay them much mind, once I launch whatever it is that I'm on the console to do the ads are gone and I've got my full screen experience.
My question is, how is having ads on the dashboard any different than my paying for cable and having to sit through commercials with almost everything I want to watch? I'm paying for the cable service, why do I have to watch commercials? I know all the revenue isn't being put back into the product because all companies want to make a profit in the end, but if a portion of the ad revenue can help better my experience why not just bite the bullet.
Sony you won me back over with your PS4 meeting. Admittedly, I'm one of the people who has a PS3 that has really been nothing more than a blu-ray player in recent years with 99% of my gaming time spent on Xbox Live. The PSN issues coupled with the fact that all of my friends are on Xbox made it easier to sick with Xbox as a whole. After seeing the offerings the PS4 will have it made me excited for the new console and also made me want to catch up on PS3 games I had missed (ignored) until now. So, this week I started fresh, new PSN account and I'm getting as much gaming in as I can before this fall.
Seeing as how I'm just getting back into the swing of things on Playstation, I'm looking for game suggestions. I have the God of War games, Infamous 1 & 2, the Killzone games and a few Metal Gear games. I'm planning on getting Uncharted once I begin to put a dent in the unplayed pile. Also, I've been on the fence about Vita, I think it's a really interesting piece of hardware, but I don't know that there are many games on there that can justify buying one at this moment. Plus, with the rumors of a price drop possibly coming by E3 I think the wiser choice is waiting. I'm open to hearing why I'm dumb for this line of thinking or whether I'm on the right track, if there is anyone who has more experience than I that happen to come across this blog.
Facing the ultimate test of will right now to not play Borderlands 2. I picked up my copy at a midnight launch and haven't even opened it yet so I can play through it with my roommates. Reading reviews and Reddit threads aren't helping matters any. Here's to hoping I can play for a little while tonight after Sons of Anarchy.
I can't describe how excited I am for baseball season to be over, thus freeing me up for leisure time with all the games that come out this fall. I don't know if I'm more excited for Borderlands 2 or Assassin's Creed III. It's too close to call.
