Does anyone at Giant Bomb know or understand that one of the main reasons the PS5 had a price hike everywhere *except* the US was currency rates? Every time they talk about it, it's framed as "Sony wants more money" which, while true because what corporation doesn't want more money, does not tell the whole story. The US Dollar has remained strong, while most other major currencies ESPECIALLY the Japanese Yen have collapsed this year. If you converted $500 USD into the other currencies at the time of the price hike, you would've seen that the new prices were pretty close to $500 USD.
Grubb saying that "PlayStation gamers" don't exist was a weird statement. I am one of them. And I wouldn't call myself a fangirl. I just have no interest in buying multiple systems and having games spread across different accounts. I got into the PS digital ecosystem when I bought a PS3, so I just continued with Vita, PS4, and PS5.
If a game I'm interested in isn't on PS, I'm not going to buy a different box to play it. I just ignore its existence. If it comes to PS later, great! If not, I shrug and try to forget about it.
The only way you could get me out of PS's ecosystem is if PS went out of business.

Anyway, just wanted to add something to the PS5 price increase discussion. I don't think this was mentioned at all. One of the primary reasons for increasing the price everywhere except the US is currency values. Apparently the US Dollar is quite strong right now, while the Japanese Yen is very weak. Sony reported losses in their previous quarter due to currency exchange rates, so in that respect, it's not surprising they are adjusting prices. If you convert the new prices to US Dollars, they are close to $500 in most territories.
Obviously it sucks that everything is indexed to the US Dollar. While it looks OK if you convert prices at the current rate, my salary does not fluctuate with currency values. When the price of PS4 in Canada went up 12.5% from $399 to $449 due to our dollar crashing, it's not like my salary magically went up by 12.5% too.

Lol people still seem so bitter about the "How to share your games" video. It was literally a last minute troll idea from Adam Boyes, not something cooked up by Sony's marketing department. By all means, let Xbox try to get back at them, but Adam doesn't even work there anymore, so, whatever.
As for this video.. Jeff keeps saying PS5 came with 1 TB, but actually it is 825 GB I believe, and after the OS stuff it comes to 667.2 GB empty space. Even then, I have 15 games installed right now (and only actively playing 3) and still have 309 GB free.. Lucky for me, I don't play COD. I don't think I need more space. Most of the larger games are not that big.. Yakuza 7 44 GB, Miles Morales 39 GB, Sackboy 31 GB... the largest I have is the PS4 version of FF7 Remake at 86 GB, and I only have that because I wanted to upload my save before switching to Intergrade but I have been too lazy to do it.
Just finished Day 2 of Cozy Grove and had the same problem as Alex.. not realizing that the bird-bear wanted feathers as well as the clothes. Although I wanna say I figured it out faster than he did XD. My other problem with the game is that the music is kinda... boring. It doesn't seem to change at all. Oh well, just means I can listen to podcasts or other music while playing.
I am legit stunned that Square is giving us the FF7 PS5 upgrade for free.
FULLY expected them to make people pay for double dipping, after all the crap they pulled with Dragon Quest XI .. and probably other games too, can't remember right now.
This podcast just reminds me how little I have in common with GB.
Yakuza games would win my GOTY every year they release. Or whichever open-world collectathon I liked best. My 2020 GOTY is Ghost of Tsushima (I didn't play Yakuza 7 or Valhalla yet.. The PS5 version of Yakuza 7 will surely be my 2021 GOTY).
