I live a 5 minute walk away from the Japanese embassy here in Beijing and it's fucking nuts.

I wouldn't worry to much. As soon as power changes hands here in China, this will go back to being a non-issue. The government controlled media is just using it as an excuse to rally the population behind it.

It's just sad.

On the plus side, when I have the chance to actually talk to Chinese people about it here and point out the absurdity of the situation they're actually pretty receptive. You just have to understand most of them are operating under the confines of the information and history provided to them.

Sorry, but I don't think the Chinese population ever gonna see this. Just putting that out there.

Dear Chinese Population,

Before you get all up and arms and protest the Japanese ownership of Senkaku, first realize that you are tools. Realize that any protest you are even allowed to have exists only because it suits the governments needs.

Why do you care about a land dispute with a foreign government that will not affect any of your lives at all when the government you should be protesting is right in goddamn front of you?

Stop being tools and see this stupid news story for what it is. A distraction to keep you scared of foreign boogie men while the government goes through it's only period of instability and possible change for the next 10 years.
