Anyone who uses the tag "Master Chief" or "Sephiroth" or any variation of those needs to have their online rights suspended until further notice.

As I've said before, Penguin Dust* (and some variations) has been the online identity I've used for more than a decade on PC, XBL and PSN.  Plus it was a nickname that went back to high school in the 80s.  It may seem to fall into the "People who try to be individuals, by having really random names" category but actually it's a reference to a poem by beat-nik writer Gregory Corso called "Marriage".  Additionally, there are 12,400 hits for the name on Google so it can't be too unusual...apparently it was the title of an album by Atomic Opera (whoever they are.)

*I'm not the only one to use the name it seems, since someone seems to be sitting on the web address penguindust.com.

Murlocs...ugh, hated them even when I had to protect them.   Stupid, foul, annoying creatures.

Few people seems to have anything positive to say about the Dead or Alive franchise, because (A) the "fanservice" and (B) the button-mashy fight controls.  But, I suck at fight games.  I have fun with games that can be played just by pushing buttons and hoping for the best.  DOA has that and memorable characters.  The story is silly, but all fighters have ridiculous plots that try to explain why these characters are fighting.  But, if you've played the DOA games for a while, you eventually come to understand the relationships between the characters which is more entertaining than any of the storylines offered to this point.  What it comes down to is Dead or Alive is just fun for me.  I know, I'm going to have a good time playing the game that will challenge my very very meager skills and keep me coming back for another round each time.

I wish I could pick two, but while I find TANG really entertaining, Quick Looks are both fun and useful, so I voted for QLs.

I didn't vote for the Bombcast because that is like breathing.  It's a given and is the reason I am even a GB member.  If the website dried up and died tomorrow, I'd be sad because of the loss of all the good things found on the site, but if the website survived and the Bombcast ended, I'd probably stop coming here.  I enjoy ListenUp a great deal, but am not a member of 1UP and I don't visit the site with any regularity.  For me, the podcast comes first and anything on the website has to be valued separately from that.

I believe reviews are necessary because few people have the time to try out every game or are willing to take a chance at buying something they will be ultimately disappointed in (hence all the sequels - but that's another topic.)  Once a review gets past the technical issues, there are the impressions a critic has for a title.  Maybe they liked it, maybe they didn't so how does this apply to the consumer?  It is vital for any gamer who uses reviews as an aid in making their purchasing decisions to have a relationship with the critic.  If you are just reading random reviews found on any of the big sites or watching X-Play and have no idea about the tastes of person who wrote the review then it's about as useful as asking a monk who's been cloistered away in a monastery for twenty years should you buy this game.  Most of us listen to the opinions of others we trust in other things we experience.  Maybe a friend says "see this movie" or "try the veal."  We then, knowing our own tastes, incorporate that recommendation into our past experience with that person's suggestions and make a decision.  We shouldn't rely entirely on the picks and pans of any review, but if we have read much from a particular critic, we can use their assessment to help us decide if the is risk (money & time spent) is worth the reward.

I've been really into the potential of this title for quite some time.  I am completely strung out on fantasy based MMOs and thirst for something different that is still character based (no EVE or Jumpgate).  So, this being the first out of the gate to address my needs, I'm certainly going to pick it up when it drops this September.

  • A "roll again" feature for the fusing, or just letting you pick out what skills you want it to inherit
  • Make it for current gen consoles. Hopefully that includes 360 or Wii because I don't have a PS3
  • Gender select
  • Let your "bro" get somebody to date. Yosuke should have gotten whomever you didn't pick
  • No more awkward characters like Naoto that kill the mood
  • Make it so the Good/True endings don't essentially require a walkthrough.
Edit: Let you customize your character's clothing. Or just offer some cool unlockable costumes or something. Everybody should get Teddy costumes if you choose a dialogue option that says "Bears." when asked "What is your favorite animal?" "
All of this plus, more mini-game scenes similar to the one in P3 where you have to avoid being caught by the girls at the hot spring.  Also, I think it was said in the previous P5 topic, but I'd like to see one based in North America or Western Europe.  Our schooling systems (and holidays) are different than those found in Japan, so I think it would be neat to see US public school kids gathering together to fight shadows, date, and try and get through the school year.   If Atlus does decide to set it in Japan again, maybe add a foreign exchange student to the crew (not just another S. Link) and a trip outside of Japan during vacation.  Also, since sexual roles seem to be so strict in the games, playing as a girl trying to ward off the advancements of all the guys while building S. Links might be an interesting change.   Finally, I'd also like to see something that does a better job of tying all the Persona plot lines together.  Something which expands the series mythos and makes it grander.  Maybe cast mates from previous games could become social links that you have to seek out, or maybe they offer side quests that add to the story.

Belphegor is currently my favorite. He's Zio based but also, check it out, to cast his attacks he literally takes a dump!

Why would anyone assume this thread is just about music?  There is no suggestion of that in the title.  I thought it was which generation contributed the most to society or had the most impact on current life.  Maybe I am wrong and it is just another music thread, which would be sad because there are a ton of those already.
