@Brodehouse:

That doesn't apply you did that not the dealer. This TOS simply said you can't sue us. That's totally unfair and stupid to hold your games hostage like that and kills consumer confidence. Also the point is mute in alot of EU countries they have laws on the books that prevent companies from making you sign your rights away. But in the U.S it will be a problem but even there those digital signatures dont mean much in court if you challenge them. But since its not clear when you buy a game that you are actually renting it. This move will prove to be a problem for valve down the road.

No matter what anyone says no one will make me believe its ok to seize games that people have purchased over years just because they wont sign your new contract. Give me a refund or see me in court. Microsoft,Sony, and EA knew better they gave you the option to OPT out and didnt take your games hostage. Thats why valve is taking the heat on this. The other game companies did this awhile ago and didnt resort to this low and unfair action. Do you get that EA knew better and everyone knows EA is evil.

I'd rather lease a car than own one, only problem is, leasing a car is usually more expensive. If i could lease a car for a similar price to what it costs to buy one, hell yes I would. Kind of a silly comparison.

Actually its not! Why pay full price or the same price for something that they can take away from you at any time for any reason. Its just fairness. People cant sell you something and just take it back at will without giving you a refund. If they would refund you for all the games your purchased before the TOS change that would be ok. But they are not doing that they just take them and you have no recourse. I do know people who's credit card company have gave them refunds for games they have purchased in the last year though. But if you have been on steam since the beginning since i have thats thousands of dollars. But if they want to behave this way they should give those people refunds who dont wish to agree to the change.

That's the risk we all knew when we started buying Steam games. It's an even smaller risk than it was 5 years ago because of how well Valve has done. I have over 230 games in my steam library. A bunch of those are humble bundle games, but that's still a lot of games to lose in the future. I still took the risk knowing full well that with digital distributions comes the chance of losing it all if the business goes under.

Well thats not really true with your CD-keys you can defend against the company going under. Even when a game company goes bust they will have servers to activate your game. I play games now that the company has been dead for years. But there is always a hand full of people out there with private servers that you can get on and play away. Thats why i backed up my cd-keys even if valve closes my account i have those keys activated on other services. And truth be told if you get a copy of the game legally or illegally as long as you have your key you can activate it. But some games dont have keys then your screwed.

I havent been this upset with steam since the launch of half-life 2 where they sold us copies of the game that didn't work, or your game wouldn't activate, and you couldn't play at all offiline. If you think the launch of origin sucked you weren't there for steams launch.

Yes but if those cars are faulty and start blowing up everywhere killing people. Can that car company say sorry guys we changed our purchase agreement 5 years after you purchase the cars so you cant sue us for our incompetence. That's what valve did. Or can they show up to your house and say we know our cars are killing people so we need you to sign this anti-lawsuit release. If you refuse to sign we are taking back this car you already legally own. Truth be told this will end with a false advertising suit who will win who knows. But that buy button when you purchase a item digitally will be in question.

That's what digital games retailers are doing to you right now. The Federation of German Consumer Organizations asked valve to change their unfair TOS they released that locked you out of your account and took your games if you didn't agree to it. Its valves own fault they hide the fact that you are only renting games from them. And if you dont agree to their terms they take all your games from you when they decide to change the contract at a later date.

As one law maker in EU said, would you rent a car for the same price as buying one? Of course you wouldn't you would just buy it. Thats what steam and other digital retailers are doing to its consumers. They should be forced to replace the buy button with rent. Would a rent button kill digital sales? I bet people would reconsider their purchases and prefer a hard copy instead. I wonder will other action be taken in other countries because of this. But for me i really wouldn't rent a car for the same price as buying one that's why i stopped buying games on steam since the new TOS.

Also i made copies of all cd-keys of games that have CD-keys. The bad thing is alot of games on steam dont have cd-keys but some work on origin that's a plus but origin still sucks. But if companies really start abusing the TOS changes in the future locking you out of games that you purchased under a less oppressive TOS. Would you keep buying games digitally?

People do the same thing every wow expansion and in OLD republic. They rush to top lvl and all you hear in chat is that im bored lol. Its your own stupid fault lol. I enjoy my lvl progression and not try to get server first like some people. You skip all the story you miss all the easter eggs and now your max lvl by yourself. I took 3 months to max lvl my bounty hunter in old republic and enjoyed it all. In every wow expansion i take my time to get max lvl i dont care to rush to the top and then have months left just standing in orgrimarr looking epic on my mount bored to tears lol.

@PXAbstraction:

Well the makers of too human is right how can you sell a product thats not finished. Epic sells unreal tech that they havent finished yet. what are the developers to do? They shouldnt be able to sell their product if its not done yet. The better question is why the hell is epic selling a unfinished product in the first place. Thats what really pissed denis off. Hes trying to make a game and they are selling him broken crap thats not finished and broken. And given the Xbox 360 crazy certification methods and making developers use directx. He really couldnt make his game because epic left him out to dry for so long.

I do believe the first masseffect isnt a true unreal game. The developer had to add its own tech into the unreal engine to fix some of the short commings. That kind of defeats the purpose of buying a engine.

Yeah but blizzard was wrong just to claim it anyway They didnt make that mod and the guy who made Dota has the rights to the name and to make the sequel and hes working for VALVE.

It would be like Epic filling a lawsuit against the Moders that created the best unreal maps. If they wanted to make a shooter using the maps they created for unreal 2004 epic just couldnt just sue them because those maps were known so well on unreal 2004. I created some maps for UT 2004 i would hate to think epic can just take them and sell them and i get nothing.

Blizzard should have done the smart thing like Valve and just Hire the guy that made DOTA.
