Game Of The Year?*About the VGAs*

I just finished watching the utterly dissapointing Spike VGAs(made entertaining by Joystiq Video-cast featuring the McElroys), and i must say, Grand Theft Auto...Game Of The Year?

Really?...is that the best we can do?...Grand Theft Auto 4...Instead of awarding the GOTY to a game that did something different..(maybe LittleBigPlanet?) they decided to award the most  Iterative game on the list, even more so then Gears Of War 2 (INB4 PS3 Fanboy).  I admit, i enjoyed Grand Theft Auto 4 as much as the next guy...but the game(IMHO) is not GOTY material. The big problem with me in the game, was how Nico seemed to be such a caring person, that wanted to change his life around so much, but as soon as he is given a choice, he starts killing people.   So, sales figures determine who gets awards now?...wait...i guess its always been that way.

Now onto the actual show, better then last years, the writing seemed a bit better, and there were a few flubs, but still, the best Spike VGAs so far.  But i tend to agree with what Griffin McElroy said,  It seems like Spike is embarrassed to be doing the VGAs, and think they need to bring in boatloads of celebrities to get people to watch, when there is a built in audence already, and if they  just took it seriously, gamers would watch it. Brutal Legend looks like (supprise) a metal-themed Psychonauts, with Jack Back, and Rob Halford doing voices. God Of War 3 looked.....like God Of War 3 should look, although it didnt show anything that looked like game-play(like Brutal Legend did). Uncharted 2 looked good, and Busta Rhymes assured us that it was In-Engine(also showing no gameplay).  Although i'll admit i'm not a huge Gears fan, the new maps look good(AVAILABLE NOW! Go get 'em if you haven't already).  But by far, the most dissapointing part of the show was the seeming 20 awards they gave out in a bumper before the commerical break. Best Graphics and Sound(MGS4), Best Wii Game(BoomBlox), and Best Handheld Game(Professor Layton) all were "given out" in .5 seconds.

The  best Indie game was a dissapointment also,  World Of Goo, while awesome, is not the Best Indie Game, Braid Anyone?, Audiosurf with its infinate replayability? C'mon guys! There were WAY better choices.

TL;DR:  an average awards show, that had major dissapointments in the awards and presentation department.

Child's Play

Since 2003 the creators of Penny-Arcade have ran a great charity, titled Child's Play. For those of you who don't know, It is a charity to help Children in hospitals by giving them games and toys to play.  The way it works like this, every hospital in the Child's Play network sets up a Amazon wishlist, you buy an item off the wishlist, and it gets sent to the hospital, with a commision being payed by Amazon to the charity itself.   You can also just donate money, and that goes to other things like medical research and stuff. Everyone should go donate, or buy something for this kids this holiday season.

This is a great charity

Fallout 3 DLC

Well, the fallout DLC has been announced, and it sounds really cool, kinda mad i got it for the ps3, but i'll probibly get it for the PC later, maybe off steam. The DLC sounds cool,  The Virtual Simulation of the Battle Of Alaska should be badass. Being from the Pittsburgh area makes me excited to hear about The Pitt, after hearing what that one guy from the B.O.S said about it. The pack i think is the weakest is the "continuation of the main story" cleaning out the Enclave with the Brotherhood Of Steel.

There isnt much out there about the packs, just a article on Joystiq i saw, might be other blogs covering it.

What do you guys think?

Fat Princess(AKA, "Feminists" get a life)

It seems that the "feminists" have struck again, everyones favorite hypocrites have been standing in a line as long as the great wall of china for a chance to swing their stick at Sony's Fat Princess.

This makes me so angry that my blood boils.

first of all. its a video game, enough said.

Secondly, these are the same people that cry for equality and expect men to pay for all their meals. Cry for equality and then cry about the possibility of being in the draft.  This is ridiculous, there are several blogs that have posted about how this game is evil, makes fun of fat people, and most importantly objectifies women. I refuse to link to them so just search around.

i usually can find a lot to say, but this topic gets me so mad that i can barely find anything to say.

to close this short blog post i am just going to say
"Feminists", get a life, your twisted view on the world only exposes how egocentric you are.

Actually, anyone who bags on video games, get a life.

theres were these 2 guys in a lunatic asylum...

..some of you reading this may recognize that line.

I was walking around the Barnes and Noble with my girlfriend today, and while she was snooping around the fiction and tabloid magazines I went over to the graphic novels, after hearing many great things about "Batman:The Killing Joke" i decided i would pick it up...and i must say, not only is the writing superb, but the re-inking of the 20th anniversary deluxe edition is amazing!  The colors are lush and bring the world of Batman and Joker to life. This is joker committing what i think is one of his most cruel and sadistic psycho plans.  I wont go into details for anyone who hasnt read it..but i can say, it is a very good read. It is great, and the extra money was worth having this great book in hardback.

Even after seeing the Dark Knight, my girlfriend still looked at me like i was crazy for buying a "graphic novel" even with the "mature audiences" tag on the back.  I am sick that this country still associates comics with children, these are amazingly told stories with deep psychological storylines. Hopefully with the release of the Dark Knight, and the Watchmen people will start to realize that comics are not just for kids anymore.

But on the subject of graphic novels do any bombers have some good suggestions?

i will hopefully be picking up some Watchmen before the movie comes out, but what other suggestions do people have?
