Surprise!

Games I didn't give a chance... only to be pleasantly surprised later while playing them.

List items

  • Tentativly approached this title on the original Xbox and was blown away. I just had to re-buy it on the 360 to experience it all over again and to get the 1000 points.

  • Tried the demo and thought the graphics looked good but the handling felt off, and decided against getting it. My brother eventually bought it and during a dry spell I borrowed it and I'm glad I did. A really, really good surprise.

  • Saw this on the marketplace and thought: "What a weird name, wonder what it's about?" Downloaded the demo and instantly knew I needed to buy it.

  • Saw this and wrote it off as a B-grade product, but after buying it on discount and really enjoying it dispite all the sneaking I now own Bound in Blood too.

  • A Hack and Slash game that I enjoyed way more than I thought I would. High level of polish, variety and gore came together and kept me engrossed though the entire game.

  • Never having visited the site, I decided to check out the demo. It instantly clicked and I've bought Episode Two now and eagerly awaiting three.

  • Getting my Xbox360 kind of late, and avoiding game news for a while beforehand I had never heard of FEAR when I bought it. Turns out I should have got some extra undies at the same time.

  • Another big surprise for me. I never liked racers, not even really arcade one. I had no intention of ever getting this or even looking at it, but then I won it in a competition online and decided I had to atleast check it out. Now everytime I'm in the store I wrestle with myself over buying forza 3 and a steering wheel.

  • Blending platforming and driving together didn't seem like it would work. After trying the demo I was impressed with the combination kart racer/platformer and had to buy it.

  • While it has nothing on GTA, I had no faith in this title what-so-ever only to pick it up from Big-W for $15 ages ago and play nothing else untill I finished it.

  • I don't like Pac-Man, at the time I was never any good at it. I've tried various Pac-Man games over the years and only ever really liked one before this (Pac-Mania - You could jump over the ghosts!) It was a real surprise to me then just how enjoyable this title turned out to be for me.

  • Even after reading about how it shouldn't be written off as a kids game, I have to say I still sort of did. I knew I had to check it out though to see what the fuss was about and they were right. Because of all the hype before hand not as big of a shock as it would have been but without it I'm pretty sure I woud have never played it.

  • It just didn't sound like a good fit, or fun. I ignored the hype on this for a while aswell, untill deciding to check out the demo only to purchase it the next day.

  • This game just clicked with me for some reason, tried the demo despite my friends labling it as slow and boring. Still working my way through the 220 levels, but enjoying the challenge.
