24/7 Capsian Border/Noshanar Canals/Kharg Island/Damavand Peak map rotation will be the servers I favorite.

It would rock if that helipad in Damavand Peak was a control point in CQ. Transporting dudes up there to cap the point sounds like fun.

Oh please. Interviews continually bring up Call of Duty either directly or calling it "that other big shooter". EA started the comparisons and a lot of outlets continue to draw them. Saying that they're "playing nice" is a huge stretch.

And I don't think DICE isn't doing anything deliberately to draw comparisons; that's all been on EA's end. The campaign does look like it draws from the roller coaster formula IW drew up in Call of Duty, but I've yet to see play the entire campaign, so if it strikes a different tone and hits at a different angle than what IW has done, then I'll be happy. In the end though, I don't really care. MP is going to be the lifeblood of this game and after playing Caspian Border, DICE is still largely concerned with their own vision and their own direction.

What is CVG's source. When and where did EA's president say any of this?

True, but it's a given. It's seems to be from a recent interview with NGamer UK (Magazine) conducted with EA's President.

If this is true, it's the biggest fuck you to PC gamers I've seen.

It is quite shocking, seeing as though so many PC gamers loved that aspect of BF2 and have been calling for it's return in BF3, since the game was announced. I can see EA giving into pressure once this news filters out around the community. There are going to be some very angry PC gamers, lol.

How is that a given?

EA's President, of all people, wouldn't be say the following unless there were concrete plans for it's inclusion, along with other touch based tactical options.

EA president Frank Gibeau mentioned that the touch-screen controller would allow for a 'commander mode', last seen in Battlefield 2.

It's inclusion, and others like it, would be perfectly logical from a gameplay standpoint, which is exactly why we are seeing Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online including such control options also.

If you were in charge of the project and you saw a competitor making the realisation that to complete with other similar games in the market (long after initial release), you have to offer something new and exciting to players, you would attempt to do exactly the same. Both games will be vying for online time when they're released during WiiU's launch.

Edit:

Maybe the PC version will get it also sometime down the line, it's possible that they're not including it now due to time constraints.

"could return" "would allow"

You're really jumping the gun here. He's imagining the possibilities, but isn't confirming them, so you really shouldn't get people shocked or mad at something that hasn't been 100% confirmed. If anything, a confirmation or a comment with DICE would have validity than a comment from EA's president.

I think Skyrim has a real grit to its art style that I didn't really get from Oblivion. Everything looks very lived-in and dirty, which is a quality I liked a lot in Morrowind. Skyrim can't compete with Morrowind's alien design, but I think Skyrim nails that dirtiness that Morrowind had.

After analyzing the data from our first round of closed Caspian Border tests, we have great news for participants in the Battlefield 3 PC Open Beta: the DICE team has decided to bring back Caspian Border for the beta’s final weekend and conduct an open large scale test of the 64 player Caspian Border map.

*****Please keep in mind that as this is beta we will be stress testing our servers***** As such, users may experience crashes, network instability and outages as we roll out and configure servers and network utilities. Understand that such potential issues and the testing environment are not reflective or indicative of the final product and that, through your participation, you will be helping to ensure future stability and functionality.

As we are again specifically testing 64-player server configurations, this test will be for PC only. The Caspian Border servers will be available for all PC players to join. Caspian Border will be available starting Friday, October 7th, in the afternoon (CET).

Play a round or two before deciding to angrily cancel your pre-order.

If it isn't BioWare or Obsidian (preferred), then I can't give even half a shit.
