This week is nuts...

My gaming plate is full. Not only is it full, but my larder for replenishing said plate is full to the brim too. I'm spoilt for choice over what games I can play right now. I own each and every modern platform, and my PC is a recent self build which will handle any game I can throw at it. Great, huh? Well, there are only so many hours in the day that I can dedicate to gaming, and when weeks like this one come along, it just doesn't help matters;

Final Fantasy XIV
This arrived Wednesday, and whilst it's been getting a fair bit of flack from the Giant Bomb community alone, I'm certainly determined to give it a decent chance. I liked what I saw in the beta, and they've already addressed several issues from that - hardware mouse, increased level cap, less time between guildleves. I've managed to install it, patch it, create a character and choose a server, but that's about it. My playtime is measured in a few meagre minutes.

Civilization V
The US got to see this earlier on in the week, so I've been seeing nothing but praise as the days tick by. I've been a fan of the series since the original game, and whilst I haven't always played it a great deal, it's always been fun when I've got around to it. Had some epic play by email games against one of my friends too, so the arrival of this makes me win our previous Civ IV game by default, and means I can get a new turn sent off to him before he knows what's hit him.

Dead Rising 2
This is due to arrive today thanks to Amazon. I loved Case Zero, and was often frustrated by the original Dead Rising, so this is bound to make it into my console this weekend, as opposed to joining the ranks of the uplayed.

Guitar Hero 6
Yeah, I'm a plastic guitar nut too. I'm a pretty shitty player though, can barely venture above medium, but I still like it. Don't play as much as I used to, but that doesn't stop me jumping on the bandwagon with every new iteration of the franchise.

Of course, that's just the tip of the iceberg. I have yet to look at any of this weeks XBLA releases, let alone last weeks ones. I'm still churning through Halo: Reach, and I've got 3 game rentals from LoveFilm sat on the floor next to me too.

I suppose I'd better get my arse into gear and get something finished, huh? Time to play whilst listening out for the postman and the courier vans, and avoiding falling to sleep due to getting to bed late. Yum...

I can't get no sleep...

Insomnia is a cruel mistress.

It can strike at the most inopportune of moments, and can leave me feeling dreadful. Here I am just past 8AM, having barely had a wink all night, and yet I'm up and about because the constant tossing and turning in bed is bothering me so.

I'm better off getting up and doing something, in the hope that nature takes it's course later on today and finds me falling asleep in my chair. Then, bed here I come!

The joy of quests!

You know? I never expected to ever see the end of this weeks new quest, but thanks to a small group of determined GB users, I got there in the end.

Thanks guys, you know who you are!

And so it ends!

The fight has been won!

Dragon Age: Origins has fallen!

Shame that the latest DLC didn't really impress me much. I was hoping for more after the excellent Leliana's Story.

I can only assume that we'll get to see one last offering of DLC for this one, as we're currently at 1650 gamerscore, just a tantalising 100 points away from the alleged maximum. Unless you're Dawn of War II of course...

Dragon Age: Origins - will I ever see the end?

Blight-Queller has been such a pain in the arse for me. The game seems to have either glitched or been patched to behave properly as a result of one of the early patches, and thus where the 1000 Darkspawn kills used to be possibe across multiple different characters, these days you're expected to do it with one single character, excluding kills by fellow party members.

So, I had one achievement left to go, and found some techniques to farm my Darkspawn kills, and I didn't know where the hell I was up to with them. Party stats don't break things down for each individual. After a few hours, up pops the achievement. Game finished. I feel elated, and have to head for bed due to my gaming creeping into the small hours of the morning, but I look forward to the following day when I can post on my forum about finally polishing off the game.

I get home from work the next day, and what's happened? More DLC...

And so the fight continues...

Jibbed!!! Again!!!

I remember when I used to play with my friends, arrange matches, have fun. Whatever happened to those days?

First there was ODST - I started out just fine in my group of 4, but it seemed that I was merely a placeholder - as soon as another colleague came along with their copy of the game, I was sent to the side benches and rarely got a look in ever again.

Of course, along comes Lost Planet 2, and I buy it specifically to work through it on co-op. I patiently wait until there are 4 of us with the game, only to find myself left behind again as the aforementioned ODST crew team up and advance without me...

I'm taking my ball home... ;(

I wonder...

...why my question on the forums about a chair went unanswered? Perhaps people thought I was joking.

Ah well, better luck next time, huh?
