@the_nubster: As a person who has been both stabbed and hit in the face with a bat hard enough to lose a tooth (council estate living) I will take a 1v1 against a bat anytime. I never want to be stabbed again.
Samantha! Max MSP is fucking awesome. I made a system in maxforlive that generates new compositions based on midi from old video games (or any MIDI) that I love after a hard drive failure and it was the most fun. It was just markov chain stuff, nothing mad complicated, but I’m super sad I lost it. I should remake it at some point.
@kemuri07: I mean if your problem is that it didn’t get into the new stuff quicker then the next game is probably gonna be for you, what with the metaphorical killing of fan expectations in this one
@kemuri07: you ever seen Rebuild of Evangelion? Those movies are the same as FF7R. The first starts off ostensibly retreading the events of the OG, while seeding little differences here and there before completely going off the rails at the end. It’s a false sense of security with some things that are a tiny bit off. In RoE it’s details like the ocean being red, a blood splatter on the moon. In FF7R it’s the ghosts, flash forwards and the fact that Aerith clearly knows more than she’s letting on.
From there they become straight up sequels as opposed to retreads. It’s a good way to get fans of the OG on board. Here’s this thing you love but new. The new narrative trickles out in small doses to ease people into it before completely shattering the old narrative. It’s essentially saying “here, look how much care we’re putting into retaining the spirit of this thing you love. Now you know you can trust us on where we want to take it”. It exists in that form to put fans minds at ease who would have otherwise completely closed off to it. It’s a slow burn for a reason.
If they’d just announced FF7 2, after literally 15 years of people begging for a remake people would have lost their shit. This way people are more receptive initially and can grow to appreciate it as a new thing organically.
