I don't think I've ever been so relieved to find an ad pop up on my broswer. I was starting to get worried to tell you the truth. I mean, I realize that the guys are doing ok...but at some point don't you have to start making money?Â
So I don't want to rant about my worries that Jeff was starting to have to use food stamps, but lets just say that all ads are welcome here. I want those guys to make some money, one, so they can have some extra cash flow, two so they can keep this site going at the pace it is.Â
This is whats going on at our video game website, GamePortrait.com. Once again, I don't believe in shameless plugs in blogs (though this is kidna one in a way) so I just want to put it at the bottom of every blog, and you guys can choose to look at it or not. If you really not liking it there, then I will stop. Hope you enjoy the site.Â
We get an exclusive interview with Scout Taylor Compton, star of the new Halloween movie. God she is smoking hot. Oh and she actually plays games!
I write up a story about how a 5 year old stabbed his sister to get his DS back.Â
I explain how to unlock stuff in Killzone 2's multiplayer, and show you a chart of the level progression. I also reveal how to unlock all ribbons and badges.Â
As someone who works in advertising at the local newspaper level, I'm glad to see them put ads up. Right now, ads are down across the board for all forms of media- radio, TV, internet, print- which is really stupid. There's so many competitors for so many different products/services, they all can't survive. Someone's gonna come out on top, and its generally the guy who's at the front of the consumer's mind.
I'm glad to see them doing something to make a profit, but I wouldn't go as far as to say "thank god". I'm fairly sure that finances aren't a huge concern for them at the moment.
Atlus should be paying them for the Endurance Run. Literally buying a copy of Persona 4 this week because of it. Maybe Persona 3 FES too, if I end up really enjoying it.Â

Im sure because of the endurance run, there are a lot of people buying P4 haha.
Kind of surprised I'm the only one who is going to mention this, but I like how the post went from being about advertisements on GB to your website. No offense.
I've been curious for a long time as to how they've been keeping this site rolling and keeping food in the staff's mouths. I'm really glad to see that Watchmen ad floating around on the site.
I just got my luchadeer sweat shirt. That thing is warm. I like it.
Everyone do their part. For the price of a cup of hemp milk a day, you too can support gamers like Jeff, Ryan, Brad, Vinny, and the rest in their continued effort to play games so we don't have to.
Well congradulations to the advertisers cause I want that Watchmen Blu-ray. Job done. Also I read the interview was pretty cool but I havent seen the first Rob Zombie Halloween remake yet. Not sure if I'll ever watch a film from the new version.
I posted a topic like this before, but I am very glad that the consensus is that "advertising = good." Everyone wants this site to do well and make money....nice.
Also, it is nice to see BliffMcBlumpkin around here again.
"Did they receive any money from the 25 min EvE online bombcast that they did? Lots of people have probably bought EvE because of it..."
I doubt it, that was more of a site feature than an advertisement. And I suspect most people who listened to it and wanted to try it will probably just try out the free trial, and then never move onto subscribing to it fully.
I know no other site where I'm glad where they put ads up. That's a good site design, Giantbomb. And, now I feel like checking out the Watchmen Graphic Novel. Effective too.

It's a blog so that's why. I suppose he didn't have to publish it to the forums, but hey. Sometimes you just gotta let the everyone know how much you appreciate the site. :)
I do enjoy seeing the ads as well. As long as they don't get carried away. All of sudden I'm looking at the Endurance Run video page and a free trial of Viagra pops up on my screen. I have a feeling that at that point Jeff and the rest of the crew have lost it.
Also, how did you get an exclusive interview with a movie star? I'm gonna have to check it out.

Yeah but on the advertising part of the site they mentioned Podcast Appearances as an option for companies to purchase. I'm not sure if that's what it was though. In any case I'm glad to see ad's!

Haha! I don't even have a PS2. I'm seriously about to go buy a used one and a copy of P4.
I think that Jeff mentioned that the ads on here would be really low key and that you probably wouldn't even notice them and I haven't so good job to the guys at GB for keeping ads as invisible as they can while still bringing in the bucks.
It's great to see that GiantBomb do get their fair share of funding through advertising. We all love these guys enough to stand this shit.
Good luck with the blog, I'll certainly check it out. Is it something you just put together? First critique, change the grey background to white or an image of any kind please :D
i still don't see any ads... i have to say, i've been wondering how GB made any money. please don't go bankrupt, as this is pretty much the best site ever. i would cry. tears.
