Now I realize facebook is just trying to make money, but I'm really starting to get annoyed with this whole "specialized advertising" thing. I'm sure thats not the actual term for it, so let me explain.

When you make your facebook you put in specific  information about yourself. Basic such as sex, birthday, gay/straight, what you are looking for in a relationship. Then you can proceed to add some more specific personal stuff if you would like. Political party, favorite books, music, tv, ect.

Facebook has recently been renovated, to allow more advertising. They are trying something new though. They are putting ads on your page that match up with your personal information. For example if I have Kanye West as one of my favorite artist, I may get on Kanye West ad. Make sense? 

My cousin recently did an experiment. She was sick of getting ads with shirtless men and ads about thongs. (she was marked as single, and a young teen) So what she did was changed her age to 30, and relationship status to married....with a women. She was immediatly bombarded with ads about gay pride, and oddly enough, cooking magazines. This means two things. One she was right, and she got rid of the "skanky" ads. Two, facebook assumes all 30 women like to cook.

I was totally unaffected by this until recently. Since Obama was been elected I've started to come around on his views, and though I still would consider myself "republican" I'm alot closer to that middle line between the two parties then I used to be. This doesn't changed the fact that on my facebook, I'm marked "conservative". Needless to say, the number of anti Obama ads has been insane! He is our president, and there is still people out there bashing him, with nothing other than facebook ads? Seriously?

But what really got me to write this blog was this. I was starting to accept how fucking retarted these ads are, but then I saw this.
