@jasonr86: I'll be 42 in a month and I love St. Vincent. Her music is right in my indie rock dad wheelhouse.

Annie is a fucking incredible guitar player (songwriter, performer, etc). She's got 5 great albums under her belt. Her and David Byrne have done an entire album together (Love This Giant). She hopped up on stage to duet with Matt Berninger at a The National concert I attended... she's basically indie royalty.

This whole thing has been incredible. Congratulations, Abby!

Supergiant's best game, and also a lock for my GOTY. Every single thing about this game is polished to a radiant gloss, each run (and death!) is satisfying and productive. Better than Dead Cells.

I love Tali so much, I'm so happy! Also... this is the best Mass Effect game.

There's nothing quite like the comments to make me appreciate that I'm a grown-ass man with a career and a family who can appreciate what GB does without resorting to a complicated financial analysis of whether they are generating enough "content" to justify my premium sub. Holy shit, some of you people...

@mathematics: Republicans fucking suck ass. I thought this was common knowledge by now.

Get a job, have a kid, own a home, pay some taxes. Your tune will change.

Holy shit, really? This is what you're going with?

I'm a 41-year-old married father of 2, squarely what many would call a successful Gen X-er, and all of your milestones are what turned me INTO A LIBERAL.

There's nothing like reflecting on life's "accomplishments" to see all the help I had along the way, all the advantages I (unwittingly) enjoyed simply because of my white male-ness. Success made me realize that the deck is stacked from birth against the less fortunate, and the political system is designed to keep it that way. I did not have to work as hard as my peers of color and yet I ended up with more positive results.

Getting a job, having kids, buying a home, and paying taxes are what changed my tune from "Welp I was raised Republican so I guess that's what I am" to "Holy shit, Republicans have rigged this game to maintain power at all costs, and I need to do everything I can to fix this."

My taxes should help everyone and I pay them happily. My kids deserve a better world than we are crafting for them (e.g. climate change, wealth inequality, rising racism and authoritarianism, etc.). I have seriously considered running for local office, but thankfully I live in California and most of my views are already shared by those whom I can vote for.

Anyway - the "your tune will change" comment is a bad look, dude. Not all middle aged folks magically turn Republican. Sometimes the opposite happens.

I'm surprised nobody has chimed in on the "did anything make you stop playing a game" in these comments.

I stopped playing Spec Ops: The Line after I discovered that I had launched a white phosphorous attack on a refugee camp. This was all part of the narrative and was intended to break the character (and the player). It worked. I couldn't finish the game.

@vinny looks like you're rocking a Seiko 5. What's the model number? I always figured you for a fellow watch guy. =)

@Alex - seriously, level your squadmates. Every mission start I think "maybe this is the time he'll level them" but you just look at Shepard's skills and move right along. =(

Re: games that affected me emotionally - I bawled my eyes out for a straight ten minutes at the end of Mordin Solus' story in Mass Effect. I'm tearing up just thinking about it now. What a boss.
