My friend has 2 of the 2740L's and his only complaint is how reflective they are. If that's not a problem for you, I think that's a good set up. Perhaps I'm crazy, but if I was spending YOUR money.... I'd probably go with a nice 27" 1440p guy (The ASUS for example) and maybe a smaller, cheaper secondary monitor. That's what I'm doing now, and it's nice to just throw up a giant bomb video on the smaller monitor to my right, and having something like work or a game on my 27" in front of me.
@tobako: I didn't realize you were on the development team and know what was originally intended. If you want my OPINION (and that's what all of this is, is OPINION) I think the original lighting looks like overly contrasty crap. Your opinion differs. Such is life.
I just got done discussing with my brother how surprised we both were at how GOOD Dark Souls 2 looked during the quicklook. The people arguing that the graphics are worse just come off as idiots. If you like how the old screenshots and videos look more than the release, then just crank up your contrast settings on your TV. That's really the only difference.
