NBA Live 14 is a pretty lousy basketball game.
The great driving and great looks of Forza 5 get buried by bad menus, frustrating AI, and a disappointing number of "opportunities" to spend additional money.
Black Flag takes a sharp left turn from the series' traditional progression, but the ways in which it diverges are what make it one of the most purely entertaining games in the franchise.
Wow, Dead Space 3? Really? I thought you didn't care for that one very much. Did you change your outlook on it the more you played, or is that meant to be a sign of how few games you played this year overall? :P

Actually these are the 9 games that came out this year that i played!
Dead Space 3 and Tomb Raider's only chances of making the top 10 is if no more than one other game makes the list. That other game most likely being XCOM: Enemy Within. Like you i'm probably mostly done for this year. Besides XCOM i have Watch Dogs on my radar and maybe Beyond and Arkham Origins but not much else. I also doubt i'll be able to afford more than one of those 3 at full price.
Dead Space 3 is a weird one. I really didn't like what i played and at the same time the desire to see the story through after playing a lot of the first 2 is still there. I suppose there's still a chance one day i'll be in the right mood to revisit it. It wouldn't be the first time i feel very strongly about writing off a game only to come back a couple months later and find myself able to enjoy it.
Tomb Raider on paper has everything to become a favorite of mine. It's sort of Batman Arkham Asylum meets Uncharted. The only problem is that after 6 or 7 hours i found that i didn't enjoy a single enemy encounter. Too many enemies rushing you constantly backed by others throwing molotovs and dynamite just becomes overwhelming.
Hmmm i guess this is exactly what i also didn't like about Dead Space 3. Make this a general criticism of this generation. Maybe i'm just getting old but i'm having a really difficult time dealing with this constant barrage of enemies that every game nowadays throws at you. What's wrong with having only 12 guys to kill instead of 40!?
