No, but they stopped people from playing online and with friends for some time.

It's just the artist's style, and I honestly really dig it.
 
The same stuff can be seen in the character design for other Vanillaware games too. First two characters that come to mind are Raijin from Muramasa and Brigan from Odin Sphere. You can't really say "yeah those games were okay, but THIS!"

Based on this video and another one I saw awhile ago, I'm gonna say Demon's Souls-like gameplay with Monster Hunter-like coop. Could be amazing, but it will probably just be okay.

Get the Tri team to make a new HD Monster Hunter game on this thing and I'll buy it.
