Interests

I'll start out with some of my interests.

Books

I guess I'll go over my favorite genre of books as well as my top five or something. I enjoy reading (medieval) fantasy. Generally anything with swords, magic, and various other fantastical things. I'm not very big on science fiction for some reason; I've just never really found it that interesting. So on to the list of my five or so favorite books.

The Wheel of Time (series) - I love these books. The world is so fleshed out and has a lot of history and culture that is believable.
  • The Last Vampire (series) - This is my favorite series of books from Christopher Pike (Kevin McFadden).
  • Artemis Fowl (series) - These are probably placed under "children's books" but I still really enjoy them all. I own every one of them.
  • Harry Potter (series) - I'm sure I'll probably get some flak for this, but I don't care. I enjoy the books whether you do or not.
  • Forgotten Realms (series/theme) - My favorite books are the ones by R.A. Salvatore that pertain to Drizzt Do'urden.
  • The Hobbit (honorable mention) - I really enjoy this book (much more than the Lord of the Rings); I'm not sure why.

Games

I'm not going to go too deeply into what games are my favorites and so on since you could just look at my list of favorite games. I'll just say I'm an (Action)RPG and FPS fan. Here is a list of names and other things you can use to contact me to try and get a game going with me.

Anime

Yes, I'm into anime. I'm not quite sure what my favorite genre of this would be. I like most things as long as it doesn't have to do with that horrid "mecha" genre. I honestly can't stand anime that has to do with giant robots, really. This goes back to my dislike of science fiction. You can find my anime list here: http://myanimelist.net/profile/purerok. I'll list my current top five here right now.

  • Rurouni Kenshin - I'm not sure what it is about this series, but I just really love it.
  • Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen - This has beautiful artwork and a tragic story.
  • Mushishi - Another anime with beautiful artwork and an interesting story. It's calming and really touches you deep down in your heart. Most of the stories also seem to have an underlying moral.
  • Fullmetal Alchemist - Most people who watch anime and have seen this usually give this high ratings. Definitely a great anime.
  • Clannad - This anime was both touching and funny. They took a serious and depressing premise and sprinkled comedy in to keep it from becoming too overbearing.

Music

This is a tough section for me to fill out since I enjoy lots of different genres. There are genres that I know I don't like that consist mainly of Rap and R&B. If I were to go with the broad genres I'd have to say my favorites are Rock, Classical, and Instrumental (this covers most video game music). The problem with this section is how music ties into your emotions and your enjoyment of different styles of music can change from one listening to the next. For this reason I don't really see a reason for making a top five list of my favorite bands since some bands drop in favor for periods of time and come back in at a later date. Here are some of my current favorites.

Yes, I know that Nobuo Uematsu is part of the Black Mages, but they are both separate (especially since The Black Mages is mostly just remixing Nobuo's/Final Fantasy's original work).
