I'm a gun owner. I think that obtaining a gun, however, is a bit too easy. Especially in certain states, and especially in private sales. Background checks can be frightfully lax or skipped altogether in celebration of laziness or apathy. Is this always the case? not at all. While living in FL, in order to qualify for a conceal carry license, I had to fill out forms, provide my fingerprints for file with the FBI, and sit through a safety course. I would have liked to see this same process required for purchasing as well. I also would have a preferred a psychological profiling thrown in there. the validity of one, though, is far from fool-proof itself. a person could lie, *act* normal during an interview, etc. all in a ploy to obtain a gun they already plan on using in a violent crime. People like that could easily slip through the cracks.
I don't believe banning guns will solve any kind of problem. It's too late for a solution like that to work at all. But if that was really and truly the law of this land, I would relinquish my firearm.
But i'm carrying a fucking sword around with me from then on.
