I definitely wouldn't for a bunch of reasons, off the top of my head : battery life sounds bad, joy cons look terrible and i'd never use them in the ways they were showing. they showed 2 launch games, the biggest of which isn't even exclusive and the big nintendo fans would most likely have a wiiu to play it on anyway. what we know of the online stuff so far sounds really bad with downloading an app on another smart device to talk to friends or invite them, and them charging for online play is laughable considering their track record. and even the normal controller you buy separately is freakin $70 which is crazy.

also, I honestly thought with how underpowered it was basically being a little better than wiiu but with more off the shelf parts they were going to pull out a $200 price point for this thing, but I guess all that gimmicky stuff in the controllers (that I mostly wouldn't even use) probably drove the price up.

@rangers517: This is what I am talking about. Can Microsoft stay afloat?

I guess it comes down to how much Microsoft wants to keep pumping money into the struggling xbox division. Obviously they have a ton of money but at some point why keep propping up a division that they have to hide in their financial reports by combining it with a bunch of other stuff. Right now they're trying to integrate it more into their other services like windows 10 but there have been a lot of reports from insiders that the games xbox is putting into that windows store are barely selling anything at all. I wonder when they start just putting everything on Steam

So I guess I don't really know. It definitely isn't looking good now and I can't see Scorpio really changing anything. ( I really don't believe a higher priced xbox one is going to be some huge driver of sales)

As much as I like the Xbox One's leadership team, it has been disappointing to see them continue their late-era Xbox 360 strategy of relying on third parties to buoy the platform. Ever since the severing of ties with the "Killer B's", namely Bungie, BioWare, and Bizarre, Microsoft exclusive titles have been few and far between. Unfortunately, I doubt that will change in the near future with Xbox One sales surpassing PlayStation 4 sales on a month-to-month basis. Phil Spencer has found himself a winning formula and I think he's content to stick with it.

huh? this isn't even close to true. they sold more for like 3 npd months before the holidays in the slow months. Those tiny differences in npd are completely wiped out by ps4 sales worldwide where sony always sell a ton more and ps4 just had a huge holiday season selling 6.2 million consoles. (which means ps4 just sold 1/4 of the total estimated xbox one lifetime sales in 2 months) The gap is only getting wider every month.

Not really surprised. All of MS's exclusives have been either bombing completely or having huge declines from previous games in their big franchises. A game like this probably would have sold dozens of copies on that platform.

Seems like my list is all games people have said but I think :

Uncharted 4

Infamous SS/FL

The Order

Ratchet and Clank

Star Wars Battlefront

Also, credit to MGSV and Doom for games that look really good, have some really big areas and run really well at pretty much locked 60 fps.

Not sure if people saw this but someone from Respawn on gaf said Titanfall 2 will be running higher than 1080 and I guess downsampling and they'll be talking about that and the other enhancements soon. wanted to put this here because on the beastcast they read the Respawn guy's quote which made it sound like on the pro it would just stay closer to 1080 more often, which sounded really unimpressive, but I guess that guy just phrased it weird and it will be a better upgrade than that.

Anyway, I just traded in my ps4 to amazon with an extra controller for $204 so I'm ready to get this for $200+tax even though I only have a 1080 tv. Games staying at a more solid frame rate while being rendered at 1800p and downsampled(no more jaggies) +some better effects, textures etc is enough for it to be worth it for me for the next 3 years or whatever for $200. Or if I get a 4k tv at some point it sounds like it's a huge night and day difference that everyone has been extremely impressed by so that would be even more worth it. I think Watch Dogs 2 will be my first enhanced game on it. Now to wait

Here's the link.

“It’s a PS4 that’s faster. We’re able to increase the resolution, we have high-res shadows, and maybe higher particle counts. The frame rate is more stable; we have dynamic resolution scaling on all consoles, but it scales down less often on PS4 Pro to maintain 60 frames-per-second.”

“Because we also made the PC version, we have some nobs we can tweak, so we just spent some time making sure it still runs well and looks good on PS4 Pro. You know, making sure it doesn’t look any worse at all. That’s the requirement: it can’t run any worse or look worse than on PS4. So it runs better, looks better and has no bugs on PS4 Pro."

ya that's the original quote that got people worried that it still just hangs around 1080p on the pro, then in this thread on gaf someone from respawn clarified it will run higher than 1080:

I never watch twitch stuff unless there's a developer stream of a game or something but a bunch of people were saying Easy Allies were good people and seemed to really enjoy doing what they do so I logged in (after trying to remember my password for like 10 minutes) just to give them the sub and now I'll continue not going to twitch.

It seems pretty clear by now they don't care about hitting the holidays. For the last couple of years they've had 3-4 big games early in the year and a few smaller ones during the holidays. Microsoft seems to not have anything at all for like the first 9-10 months of the year and then releases everything during the holidays. And going by sales numbers most of MS's games have under performed this generation going against the big third party stuff so I think sonys strategy is smart to just let the game go to early the next year if it's not completely ready.

Uncharted 4, Ratchet and Clank, Mlb the show, and Street Fighter v all came out early in the year and the first 3 at least reviewed and sold really well.

The more I hear about it the more sold I am. I just wanted them to talk about the benefits for non 4k tvs right now, and they said they're asking every developer to have improvements for non 4k. Rise of the Tomb Raider seems to be the only one we have specific details for right now but the improvements and options sound great for regular 1080 tvs.

For the future if I get a 4k tv the 4k stuff seems to hold up its end of the bargain for the price. Digital Foundry seemed really impressed with that aspect of it and said it's a huge upgrade in visuals over 1080. Also, The Last of Us is confirmed to be in native 4k which would make me have to play it again.

Hopefully I can get a good amount for selling my ps4.
