I mean... they're releasing they're own version of the LINUX kernal. I can just see that... if they were able to develop a version of the OS that is more compatible with games traditionally made for a windows environment than...

Well Multiplayer hasn't nuked my computer or set it on fire. It seems pretty safe so far, and the only thing that should change with a patch are fixed bugs and the checksum will change. The saved games should still load though.

That's too bad. =/ I don't what to suggest because I'm not having these issues at the moment. Paradox is usually pretty good at getting patches and fixes out for these things, so hopefully it won't be too long until you can start playing.

Now that the game is out, I have seen a few people testing the waters to see if anyone is willing to play some on-line Universalis. I remember being really nervous about it at first just because of the number of options available to you, but these games are also really fun to play cooperatively with other people. So that's also something to keep in mind!

It looks like they've updated the multiplayer browser to link in with your steam friends this time around, which will hopefully make matchmaking a lot easier. Anyone looking for more steam friends to play games like this (or anything else from Paradox) feel free to add me.

Hello and welcome to the Universalis series! I only started playing with EU2, but I fell in love with it almost immediately. Everyone here so far has given you some good suggestions. The videos really can give you some insight at least into where to start looking. They are correct though in that the best way to learn is to play.

I've found that a lot of people make the common mistake of trying to do too much too quickly right at the start of the game and find their treasury, diplomats, merchant's, and missionaries depleted and then sit around waiting to do anything. Just be patient and pick some simple goals until you decide to be more aggressive.

I also recommend getting into the Multiplayer! In the past these games are very fun when played with other people, especially in co-op mode. If you like you can always track me down on Steam as well.

Honestly, I played through the "demo" before release (in quotes because you could almost play through an entire game if you wanted to), and I love it. What they have revamped and added to this game brings a lot of new and interesting options. Also if you're a Crusader Kings 2 player, you can import your dynasty into the game and continue the story of the empire you built.

The game is not easy, it will task you to think carefully about your choices. It will give you the ability to expand and conquer, but it will not be easy. The combat system still isn't incredibly deep. If you wanted deeper military strategy than you're really looking at Hearts of Iron 3, though combat is still more of a thing in this game than CK2.

I am biased to like it I suppose because I backed this project, but the reviews so far have been pretty good. I won't know until I get home later today to actually play it.

The one thing I do know from their updates is that they've already started working on the Berlin campaign. They haven't put an ETA out for a completion time, but I hope before the end of the year.

It's not really getting fired though right? Isn't it more like he wasn't hired for it?
