@ImmortalSaiyan: The more people we get the more accurate our statistics will be, but I don't need a certain number to pass the assignment. The more the better. Although I realized after posting this that I am going to have about 80% of the respondents be men so I may need to find some forum visited predominantly by women and post it there to even it out.

I own a mint condition copy of The Ultima Collection which I got for $25 or so. On Ebay a mint copy usually goes for over $100. Mind you my version is complete even with registration card and copies of just the disc in a random jewel case go for more than $25. So that is probably the best deal. I also have a mint complete copy of Daggerfall which I got for $30 and usually goes for over $100 on ebay. Half Price Books is a gold mine. You never know what you get going in there. 99% of the time its all crap. Every couple years you go in there and come out with a deal like that. I have a couple other really old and somewhat valuable games that I got there for under $10. Like I have a sealed big box copy of Alone in the Dark I got for like $2 that is worth $50 or so on Ebay. So I guess that is a good deal as well. Actually I might have opened it. But assuming I didn't it is worth that much.

Here's a little insider info I got on the situation at Square Enix. I heard from someone with good authority that during the development of Deus Ex, Square Enix had their top developers visiting Eidos Montreal all the time to figure out how they worked as the development quality in Montreal was so much higher than that of Japan. I got this second hand from someone who talked to the staff members there. Can't say any names or anything but the answer to your question is that Square Enix bought Eidos in part to learn how the West develops games and its staff has been analyzing the work in Montreal and in Europe very closely and fashioning their Japanese design strategies around those they saw used there. How much the actual content will change is open to debate. But suffice to say that the way they design games going forward was directly influenced by how Deus Ex and other Eidos games were designed.

I can't really decide between the Vectrex and the RCA Studio 2. The like 3 games they made for both of them combined were three of the BEST games ever. I'm also a fan of the legendary Jaguar and the ill fated Pippin. Talk about Apple never failing. That console was a masterpiece. Though I guess if I really had to choose one the Phillips CD-I has to be it. Those Zelda games were much better than the crap on the SNES. Made the system for me.

In all seriousness, though, I would say the PS2.

After writing this I thought I would look on Wikipedia to see any ridiculous obscure consoles I missed. There was a console called the Ping-O-Tronic released in 1974, before the release of Pong. I tried to read the article on it but it was in Italian. Anyone here hardcore enough to own one of those? If you aren't super familiar with console history that page is quite a read. I'm a game designer and some of the first and second generation ones even I hadn't heard of.

EDIT: Just to clarify I mean the home version of Pong, released in 1975. The Ping-O-Tronic still played a version of ping pong based on the Atari Arcade machine.

That was harder than I thought it'd be, because a) I think a lot of Australians would object to being labelled as part of Asia and b) answering 'Never' to question 7 makes it hard to answer just about anything else.

I didn't actually write the questions and I noticed she left out half of the continents but by that time it was too late. My apologies. I dunno what she was thinking.

Was thinking the same thing. She really didn't think this out.

Yea I probably should have rewritten the questions myself especially the continent one. Thanks for taking it though. Sorry for the trouble.

I have literally no idea what it is, just that it's a cult hit. Is it an action RPG? Is there loot/inventory?

It is very heavy on the action and the action is very clunky. There is also a lot of backtracking and poorly worded objectives. I made it through 10 hours or so before giving up. I know the story is supposed to be great but the gameplay is just boring. Not bad per say, just very boring. Couple that with the fact that you have to walk for 10 or 15 minutes to get from one quest to the next at times and it just became too much for me. The music is really great though. I hated the art. I think your character looks like crap and the rest of the world is really uninspired. But I didn't see a huge amount of it. Basically like others have said, the story and music are really all the game has going for it, so if you don't play games for either of those things I'd recommend returning the game.

No offense to anyone who loves the gameplay and art of course. Some of the art is good, just some of it is awful. The gameplay, you'll have to make a pretty good argument towards.

i dont help idiots that use the word duder

You might want to travel to a different site then. This one is plastered with the term. I wasn't trying to offend anyone with the use of the term. People use that word commonly around here and have since the site was a wordpress blog. It didn't seem to upset anyone else...

Hey duders. So I'm taking a marketing class right now and we are working on a project involving bottled water and flavored bottled water. Boring subject, I know. Anyways I need some help from people. We have to send out a survey and I was hoping some of you guys could take it for me. It's 10 or so questions and should take under 5 minutes. For the final question, my name is Seth. Linkage

For your help I will reward you with this trailer for the new video game movie from Disney, Wreck It Ralph.
