Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. Almost no one believes me when I said that the controls are not even half as bad as most people I talk to make it out to be.

OK here's a question for the Nier lovers.

Would you shag Kaine?

Probably not; I'll let either Emil or Nier do that.

Let's cut to the chase.

I am looking to be a really prominent user reviewer/writer on GB.com. I don't know if I am going to pursue gaming journalism as a career, but for now I want to be the guy on the site who can deliver some really good reviews from time to time (as well as give my share of curveball pieces) and at least have at least a handful of people (3 or 4?) recommend it and/or comment on it. That's not to say that I write for the sake of getting people to look at the work, but it is always icing on the cake when guys stop by, take 5-10 minutes of their time to read what I have to say and leave a comment or two.

I remembered when I wrote my Rapid Fire review of Nier; there was a tremendous outpour of people liking the game, disliking the game, comparing it to other games, the lot. Long story short it was a fun, fun time when I got to talk to and interact with members of the community. OK, 15+ comments from a couple of different users is not much, but it still felt great.

So help me out here; if I want to be a more known member of this community, what should I be doing to head in that direction?

Sonic Riders Zero Gravity has a bad rap, but that's because the reviewers most likely do not know how to play the game and use its control scheme. Once you learn to actually thrive in the game ZG doesn't all that bad.

@blu3v3nom07 Just my two cents in this discussion: Not a LeBron hater but would rather see Spurs win because they play the right way [teamwork, ball movement, great coordinated defense], and would love to see Timmy get a last hurrah. But the Heat won it as much as the Spurs lost it, so Miami has to be given credit, LBJ especially. I think the hate for Miami has to come from the Decision by James, the massive amount of bandwagon Heat fans (see game 6, only LBJ Wade Bosh jerseys) and the fans, as a radio person puts it, strutting around like peacocks thinking that they are "it".

But enough of my ranting of the Heat. I want to share this article about the Spurs. If you are someone who thinks "ESPN = BSPN", I urge you to remove that bias for this one article [a bit of a long read].

@chop:

I think the question you have to ask yourself is "Do I focus on the game's shortcomings or its strengths?" Even the most hardcore fans of this game will admit to you that the game's mechanics is less than stellar. But because there is still so much good to be found we overall enjoy the game. This review from RPGamer probably sums it up best about the conflicting decision to rate Nier:

The game reviewer in me is screaming at me to recognize Nier's numerous flaws, and they are numerous. The environments are bland and poorly rendered, the gameplay is derivative, there's a lot of repetition in the quests and dungeons, and little about the game really stands out as being truly inspired. And yet, Nier is, quite simply, the most fun I've had with a video game all year, and that's counting both Mass Effect 2 and Final Fantasy XIII. As a game reviewer, it's important to be able to weigh a game's merits against its faults, and doing that, as the game reviewer in me wants to do, Nier couldn't really be called much more than a decent game. But I can't bring myself to do that. Nier transcends its less than stellar individual elements and becomes something much grander. The gamer in me has won this battle, and he's the one writing this review

ICO is going to probably the consensus pick (the polls said so) because of its acclaim. I didn't play the game so I can't judge on that, but I don't think you can go wrong with Nier. I even wrote as such. If you want a great story and a great musical score, Nier has that. Just pick one and stick with it; you'll enjoy yourself either way.
