I want to say Dead Space 3, but I have no idea how much the crew is looking forward to that game and I really dont know how the single player is going to be.
I have a fear of open water swimming, so doing a lot of the stuff in the oceans in Far Cry 3 makes me very nervous. For example, getting shark skins was hard for me because I hated swimming out in the ocean to get the skin from the sunken shark. Just wondering if anyone else had difficulty with this same thing? The thing that gets me is that I have played other games with large underwater portions, but they were never unsettling to me like Far Cry 3 is.
Honestly, I just feel like Patrick was confusing "bad" for "hard". There are different types of hard, and the old stealth games like Splinter Cell were hard in the way that there was only one way to do things and you had to figure out that way, while Mark of the Ninja is hard in the way that it requires more skill or finesse in the controls to get the best outcome in the different scenarios. It is entirely possible to like one of these types and not the other, both types, or neither types.
Stealth games have gotten away from the whole idea that you have to remain stealthy in order to be successful, and they have become better games for it. However, that doesnt make the games that tried stealth earlier any less good or enjoyable. When Splinter Cell came out, as well as its sequels, I couldnt put those games down. I am sure going back to them would be tough now, but that is true of just about every single old video game.
Basically, your opinion on old stealth games is based on personal preference. However, to say that old stealth was "bad" is inaccurate because those old stealth games really werent bad games. It could just be that they just werent what you were looking for.
It seemed like Jeff and Brad were really the only ones to sink a significant amount of time into the gaming, and it didnt seem like either one of them thought their experience was memorable. You measure that against some of the games that made the list and it becomes a little more understandable as to why it didnt even get mentioned.
If he spoiled something about a game they were talking about, why is it such a big deal? Should have seen it coming.
I understand that Patrick can be like that kid when you were younger who would tell you every little detail about anything you ever brought up, but in the context of these GOTY discussions you have to be ready for anything.
Never really thought it would get that bad. Getting upset at people, their tastes in games, or really anything that involves opinions in general is just crazy. People must be using the GOTY as an opportunity to vent or something. Glad Patrick isnt going off about it though (although, I wouldnt have expected him to get angry about it). Best thing to do is just shrug it off.
