Crake's Top 10

The ten games that sparked my love for gaming and I believe show the industry at its very best.

List items

  • This game is the reason I became a gamer. Simple as that.

  • RTS is my favorite genre, so naturally not having this on the list would be a crime against humanity. This game got me hooked on the genre AND it made me good at it.

  • My favorite FPS of all time. Half Life 2 is even better, but this game truly perfected the genre and nothing can replace it for me. It is a true work of art.

  • Easily one of the most underrated games of all time. The atmosphere turned me off at first but I warmed up to it and it became one of my most played games. Do not fuck with JC Denton when he's in a bad mood.

  • My favorite game in the Metal Gear series. The entire series is fantastic, but Snake Eater brought out the best in it.

  • I nearly put the second one here, but the first one will always remain my favorite, even if the second one is a better game. I didn't expect such a powerful storyline to go with a hack-n-slash title like this.

  • Morrowind is an absolute monster game, and I feel it beats Oblivion in a few departments despite lacking the visuals to keep up with it. This game (along with Deus Ex) got me into RPGs and Adventure games.

  • Spent countless hours on this one. Show me an RTS besides Starcraft that has done more for the genre and you have my everlasting respect.

  • This first adventure of Dante was really the first demon slaying experience I'd ever had. I was a young kid, so naturally I thought it was super badass. Can't say much has changed. He's not bordering flamboyantly gay in this one either, like in DMC4.

  • These two had to be here. Seriously, they're like fucking prescription pills. You think you've kicked the addiction and then you to start popping them again.

This is like the perfect list!
I agree with every one, especially Morrowind. I spent hundreds of hours in that game, and even longer in its sequel! :)
