The Kickstart to E3 2012!!!

With E3 officially kicking up next week and the Konami Press Conference just moments away, I would like to share, so far anticipated games of this year or so. These games are currently on my mind and what I was impressed by the trailers.

Hitman: Absolution

No Caption Provided

The recent trailer shown recently wasn't really that great, I know but this doesn't mean the game would be "represented" in that way of trying to cheat some lame thrill for idiots. At first, I thought this trailer looks live-action but It's fully CG, the way that the first shot has handled just got me to thinking it's live-action for some sort of reason. While the trailer doesn't reveal any new features nor any meaningful existence at all, what I found befudgal is the text after the trailer; "The Original Assassin" or something which seems to pissed me off. Hey, I love me some Hitman but that remark kind of brushed me in the wrong way.

Anyways, the trailer itself shows Agent 47 bruising himself up after, I think an assassination which I think follows after with a group of nuns walking to a motel that he is staying it: probably to kill him. It almost looks like Assassin Creed somehow, the fact that they are hooded and then they rip their clothes off and unshelted their guns. Back then I love this whole ideal of sexy nuns with guns but after watching this trailer, it seems contrived and lame even if they are sexy and have big ass guns and shit. Plus I love the fact that 47 knew this assassination would take place and so he, out of nowhere, sneaks behind them and start shanking them which was fun the first time then I wasn't impressed at all. The way, he sneaks up and does CQC on the group was so obvious, although I was somewhat surprised that there wasn't any sexual moment when he snaps and rips their necks especially they are a group of sexy nuns. This trailer got everyone upset due to its misogynist nature of 47 brutally shanking nuns.

Agent 47 doesn't care for skanky nuns..

The trailer like I said isn't really represented by the way the game will be like, it's one of those trailers that could easily be live-action and no one would care. With the previews of the game so far, I'm still hoping that this game will be good because hearing the game being linear and all that breaks my heart. I really want the game to have more than one path and have these paths reflect your performance of that specific level or the story, on the way you do your objective. Hopefully it would be a better Hitman Blood Money and rather a generic stealth game that ruins the whole franchise.

Metro: Last Light

No Caption Provided

I did not play the previous game, Metro 2033 due to the fact that I rather play Stalker than this, the fact that they are both set in the Post-Apocalypse and in Russia and there are mutated monsters and shit shows some derivative to it. I remember watching the walkthrough of Metro 2033 and finding the story to be lacking and plus the fact that I am also playing another game, Singularity which also features the same sort of setting and story and also watching people play Cryostasis. Yeah, I know that it differs from one another and it's based on a book but I find it tiring to have the same setting about a post-apocalyptic future set in Russia where science is involved and the Commies somewhat invented monsters in their experiments and your objective is to go to the source and stop the madness; that's what Metro 2033 is about. Although, it sets up a scenario where World War II still exists and Nazis are still fighting against the Russians in this future and then monsters are involved and you have to find this sort of doomsday device to contain the monsters or some shit, the fucking ending involves you going into some weird universe where you walk in some scary walkway or something and then you end up, top of some tower and it ends from there on. Remembering back, I did not like how the ending or the premise to this game at all, it was a pain even to watch this game.

Although, this game, Last Light kind of sparked some interest in me despite being set in this post-apocalytic world - the live-action is what impresses me the most. It seems since that Assassin Creed featured short film, that developers tend to have live-action to really impress the public, I mean I remember Skyrim having one and it looks sick. I find easily attracted even though it starts up in some cliche, "guy running away from what seems to be the end of the world, with nukes or missiles dropping on them while everyone starts panicking and rushes to some russian bunker and shit." It's kind of like a quarantine movie like Doomsday or any zombie movie featuring this sort of shit, where everyone rushes to a military base to safehaven to but then realize that they aren't accepting anymore people, plus the fact that there's a part where a mom hands her baby to one of the guards is the same similar as that movie and probably her face crying at the end while the door slams shut.

I was easily stroked for this live-action but what really amazes me is the demo walkthrough, showing the game-play which overall, I am now on board with this game not because of the whole setting, it's just something that piped my interest. Despite watching five minutes of it, the game starts off as a stealth game which these games are somewhat designed to do, with the whole sneaking behind the enemy and shooting the lights out which reminds me of The Darkness and fought you could summon creatures to do your bidding or some shit. What impresses me is the lighting and fire effects at the starting where you use your torch lamp or whatever it's called to burn spiders off of webs and shoot some lights to not reveal yourself to the enemy. Afterwards, two guards open the gate and lights and start their daily game routine and patrolling while you shoot off the lights on the gate and then shank the two guards and what makes me laugh is the fact that you could shoot their headlights but the CQC moves or whatever wasn't really impressive, just generic up-close kill move.

The lighting and graphics seems impressive, see look at that fucking light!!!!!

With you killing the two guards, he goes in, with his silent gun shoots a fireplace which at first just looks ridiculous but then is to distract the guard for a close-up kill but then the guy playing it decided to fuck the stealth portion of the game and go ballistic on the facility you just walked in and alerted all the fucking guards. With that part, I turned it off because I found it lacking from what I saw earlier and was impressed with the atmosphere. Last Light sets up in a post-apocalytic Moscow where you fight against rival factions which often tend to split up after the bombs blow up and there are also some flying monsters as seen at the starting of the game. Although again, the plot set so far is about a fucking plot to find the doomsday weapon or "factions vying for the doomsday device" which doesn't seem to impressed me and I find that it's clearly the same scenario again like Singularity or something. This game seems to be enticing and I want to see more of this via E3, with how the graphics are improved since the original and everything, I am eager to play this game.

Both of these games seem enticing nevertheless of how they are portrayed in these trailers.
