I'm still having issues with mouse lag and low framerate.  My PC exceeds the recommended requirements and yet the game runs like shit.  I'm pretty pissed as I really want to play this but it almost isn't worth it.  I was somewhat interested in the Sam and Max games but I'm worried I'll have the same issues.  Is anyone else still having issues after the patch was installed?

Suits have no value in poker. "
Except when a royal flush beats a normal flush...

More to your original point, I've had a lot of issues with the game, not so much with the poker rules but with framerate and mouse issues.  I've got an AMD Phenom Quad Core 2.8GHz, 6 GB RAM, 512 MB Radeon HD4200 and the game lags real bad.  I've turned the effects off, graphics down to 3 (default was 4), turned off shadows and lowered the resolution but it still lags.  It is very frustrating.  My friend has a better computer than I do but has no issues.  I've tried various things like forcing AA, verifying integrity of the game, rebooting, updating graphics card drivers, etc. but nothing seems to work.  It's barely playable which is upsetting because the dialog is great.

Disclaimer: I love both of these shows.

With that being said, I never could foresee a crossover happening in these two shows.  They both have opposite directions in the tones they take.  While Dexter is funny in his many peculiar ways, Burn Notice is a much lighter, funnier romp.  Michael would never team up with Dexter as Dexter's sole existence is relying on killing bad guys.  Michael (with one exception) never kills so they could never co-exist.  Plus, Dexter would never trust Michael enough and would end up tracking him down and killing him in the end.  I don't care how crazy Fii is, Dexter dealt with Lila and if he can dispatch her, he'll have no trouble with Fii and Sam.  He would prey on their weakness to have them drop their guard and BOOM, next thing they know they're naked, saran-wrapped, and waiting for their last words.  Michael is highly intelligent but Dexter rarely preys upon petty criminals that Michael deals with on a daily/weekly basis.

" Doake's actor was actually on Burn Notice so that would be kind of awkward. "

Yeah, you're right that would be awkward.  Dexter would run into him and be like "Didn't I see you get blown up a few years back?"

Anyway, it's an interesting idea but I honestly would see more of a crossover with Burn Notice and CSI: Miami before Burn Notice and Dexter.  Yes, Burn Notice is much more intelligent than CSI: Miami but the procedural drama is an easier route for Burn Notice to take than going down the psychological roller coaster that is Dexter.

Alright, well I picked up the ring on Thursday and decided I would ask her over the weekend.  I thought about several different scenarios of asking her, etc. but decided on doing it after dinner.  I bought a simple card just to have something distract her while I got down on one knee.  I waited until last night to ask.  We were up at her parent's vacation home near Lake Geneva, WI.  I cooked her dinner (which I normally do when we're up there).  I was fine throughout the entire week until we started eating at which point I start getting really nervous and am trying to just shove the food down my throat.  After we finish, I get up to get the card and the box and put that in my pocket.  I handed her the card (I put at the bottom "Look up") and after she read it she looked and I got down on one knee and showed her the box.  She basically lost it then and started crying hysterically.  Somewhere in there I asked her to marry me but it was a blur as I was really confused by her reaction.  I couldn't tell if she was extremely happy or horribly petrified!  So here I am on one knee and after what seemed an eternity she nodded and said yes.  So we are both extremely happy and can't wait to start our lives together.

Thanks to all of you who gave me advice, I really appreciate it.  I feel like the luckiest guy in the world.

My hope is about 40 so we'll have to start soon as I'm already 26.

" EDIT: guess I should have read all of the most recent posts before posting myself. Congratulations sir, and good luck with the ring, that was the hardest part for me. "
I went back to the first store I checked out as they had loose diamonds and different rings, quite unlike most of the big name jewelry stores which had limited selection and not very good ones either.  I had it narrowed down to 3 and eventually made my decision.  I was a little under my budget which was great but I'm pretty sure she'll love it.  Now comes the hardest part: hoping she says yes.

Well I finally bit the bullet last night and talked to both of her parents.  Basically just said we had been together for a long time, that I love her and want to propose to her and if I can have their blessing.  They both gave the okay.  I had started looking at rings late last week and over the weekend.  I think I'm going to make my final decision tonight.  I plan on proposing to her this upcoming weekend.  I'll keep you posted on her answer.

Thanks again everyone for your input, it has been greatly appreciated.  I know when I want to propose to her, it just depends on a few other things.  I'll keep you updated on any developments.

Fortunately she doesn't go on here at all as she's not that big into video games.  *GASP*  I actually should correct that, she has a Wii and can still kick my ass at Mario Kart on the SNES.

Thanks for all the responses so far, I think it's making the decision a bit easier.

So my girlfriend and I have been dating for almost 6 years and I think the time is right to finally propose to her.  I am very excited and nervous about this.  I'm almost certain she'll say yes but I have a dilemma: whether or not to ask her father or both parents.  I have thought about this both ways and what would be best and I'm still not sure.

Part of me feels that it should be her decision as it's not the 1950s anymore.  Part of me feels that her dad/parents would respect me and it would make things a lot easier in the long run if I just ask (I don't imagine him saying no).  She may want me to ask her parents blessing.  I don't know if her mom would keep it a secret long enough.  Do you just ask her dad or is it better to ask both parents?

To anyone engaged/married, did you ask your wife only or did you ask her dad or parents first?  Any comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I want to start this out by saying please don't shoot me if this has been discussed ad nauseam.  I was going through one of the quest sets, Famous Friends, and I went to click on the respective pages of a couple of them that I knew right away and nothing popped up.  No notification that the quest was completed or anything.  I even tried clicking pages that weren't exactly related to this person(s) but still nothing.  Is there some glitch going on because I am 100% of the identity of two of these people.  I'm not looking to be told the answers, just want to know if there is something I'm doing wrong or if it's the site.  Thanks!
