Hellgate was alright and there were some things that worked very well. However a lot of the mechanics which are supposed to make games fun never really materialized or were severely underdepveloped. Like with so many games these days, excluding LAN options was a huge mistake.
It wouldn't surprise me if movie studios buying development studios became standard. The game industry generates a lot of revenues, of course the hollywood types want in. What better way to do that then buying up popular developers and their IP's?
I think Dead Space is pretty self-contained and hope if they have to make a sequel it's done right. Bad Company doesn't surprise me, but both Mirror's Edge and Army of Two sure do. I guess they're pretty happy with ME and AoT had a lot of great ideas that studio just couldn't close on. I think more time and maybe some more coin would go along way to making ...

@Knives: I did read, maybe I should have taken more care in separating my thoughts from what Pardo said to what I expect to happen. What Pardo said was. "It's a separate product. Look at the next two as expansion packs, but will have the feel of stand alone products." He doesn't indicate they are expansions, nor does he say they are stand alone products. What's the middle ground in ...
"Maybe it's a full-priced initial entry and then a couple of $20 add-ons to round out the experience."It's not though. Joystiq has a quote up from Rob Pardo saying all three are separate products. They'll be stand alone releases much like Dawn of War: Dark Crusade or Crysis: Warhead. The three questions are:1. How much content will be included in each release?2. Will you be able to play all three ...

At first I was angry (mostly because Criterion continued to insist trophies would be retroactive), and I'm still disappointed, but the trophies really aren't hard. You can get a bronze just for competing (not completing) an online Stunt Run or Marked Man. Quick and easy. The only real bad part is needing to do the licenses over again if you want the trophies for them. Those are the only time ...
