There and Back Again, A Gamer's Holiday 2: Happy 4th of July USA?

This is Residentrevil2 here, sending another transmission (A very late transmission at that) from the Narcissus.
So, how ya doing folks? Did your July 4th weekend go well? I hope it did for you. It went fairly well for me. There was good food, family merriment and entertaining videogames. The barbeque was the best in years, brisket a-plenty. The family was comforting and they seemed to enjoy their time here at my abode. The videogames were unique and noteworthy.
But, not everything was all sunshine and rainbows here on the Narcissus. I was very disappointed that a long and dreadfully dry summer season had caused a drought, which banned the sale and use of fireworks in my area. What’s a 4th of July without fireworks? I’ll tell ya, a not so cool one for Residentrevil2! July 4th and New Years are the only appropriate times for really blowing things up and I didn’t get the chance last Friday. I’m in dire need of some major pyrotechnics. So much so that my head hurts when I think. I’m going to lie down for a while.
A few hours later…
Well, after some rest I’m back. Okay, so the weekend still went well without my pyro-blasting goings on as usual, but that’s because the games I played made up for it. A cousin of mine set me up with a few games to try out. The first game was one that my family really got into. It was Rock Band, which I had only played a little of before, but I hadn’t been any good at. That was until my cousin let me in on a little secret, just hold down the fret button and strum away. Why didn’t I think of it before? Am I stupid or something? Well, actually I am stupid…or else I wouldn’t be living on an escape pod called Narcissus in the middle of nowhere now would I?
Back to my impression of the game, the entire family got involved in one way or another. The controls grew on my, but it wasn’t easy. My hand-eye coordination isn’t as good as I thought it was. The graphics were colorful and the gameplay made sense. So, the family jammed out and rocked the neighbors’ socks off. The singing, the drumming, the guitar was all very amusing. And surprising to say the least, my mother and father loved it, and they don’t fall for games often, but they did for that game. So, I have to commend and recommend it.
After some Rock Band fun we moved on to a game called Battlefield: Bad Company. This is where most of the family left the room or had gotten over the initial excitement of the other game. I hadn’t followed the news on Bad Company because I didn’t find the other Battlefield games all that interesting. In fact, I was a little hesitant to even put it into my 360. I expected the same old Battlefield; same old graphics, same old gameplay and lackluster story, however what I got was totally different. I found a lush looking environment, a more than adequate storyline, filled with comedic characters so endearing that dare I say it made me laugh out loud, and all of it set on an explosively (pun intended, yet not as funny as I first thought) landscape altering battlefield. It really surpassed my expectations. I’d recommend it to any first person shooter enthusiast.
The last game I played (and actually owned) over the long weekend was Eternal Sonata. It’s kind of your typical Japanese RPG where you take turns battling it out over a uniquely lit environment where your characters use the light or darkness to their advantage. It is actually a pretty good game with a unique storyline, but I’ll get into all of that later. Right now I’m feeling one of those head hurtin’ brain aches again so I’m going to call it a day/night. Oh, well…
