My Holiday 2010 Gaming Wish List

Here is my wish list for the 2010 holiday buying season.  For the most part these are all games I really want, versus games I'd like to get, which would be a very long list.  Being as this is my first list I'm not sure of all the things I can and can't do.  I think I will list these in reverse order, since I have this as a countdown from least likely to buy to almost a sure bet.

I put the Kinect stuff together versus listing them in purchase order.  They are almost like a sub list.

List items

  • So far the previews I've seen of this have not blown me away. And it seems that the multi-player will be more Battlefield style, which I don't like too much. This is a game that will only get a purchase if the reviews are stellar. Especially versus Call of Duty. I would most likely buy one or the other.

  • I have no follow through with RPG's. I didn't finish Oblivion or Fallout 3. So that makes this an easy pass. At least for right now. We'll see once reviews come out.

  • I enjoyed Case Zero, but I think it scratched my bloody zombie killing itch. I don't have the patience for the odd save structure and the fact that you have to continue restarting the game to be powerful enough to finish the game.

  • I liked Fable a lot. Fable II just didn't work as well for me. I finished it, but didn't really go all out and try and complete all side quests. I will read reviews for this one.

  • I love the Civ series. But this is the first Civ release (not counting Revolutions) that will be out since I got married and we had a child. I just don't have the time for a time sink games like this. Although I could just buy this only and then I could almost buy nothing else on this list.

  • I know I shouldn't get this game. I feel that COD has pretty much run it's course. But I know that most of my friends list will be playing this game multi-player and I want to be able to participate. Plus I really enjoy shooters and will most likely enjoy the single player.

  • I just rented this game and I am really enjoying it. I have the three main Halo releases and overall I enjoy them, but I have no deep connection to this franchise like many gamers do. I never had the original Xbox so my first real Halo game was Halo 3. So far I am enjoying the multi-player much more than I expected I would.

  • Here we go... Kinect. I want Kinect to do well. I want the hardware to work as advertised. But I have serious doubts. We have the room to fit this in our living room. I have a two and a half year old daughter. I have a wife that plays casual games a little here and there. I think we are almost the ideal household for Kinect. I wish the price point was just a little lower. At $150 it's a hard sell, under $100 and it would be almost a no brainer.

  • This is the least likely of all the Kinect games I would buy. It seems like Microsoft's answer to Wii Sports, which was one of the better Wii games, so it's on the list in case it is as fun as Wii Sports.

  • This one in 20% for me and 80% for my daughter. She's probably a little too young for this, but I just think she would have a blast interacting with a tiger.

  • I can't dance. At all! If there is a possibility that this will help me learn to dance, I am fully on board. Plus it looks like a lot of fun. And I think my wife would like this one.

  • This is almost a guaranteed buy because my wife (and two year old daughter) will play this. But do I just buy software, or go for the keyboard (don't call it a key-tar) version? I think both my wife and I would enjoy playing keyboard. I just think it's super cool, and my wife can play piano already.
