I absolutely love what Austin brought to the site, and the rapport the whole east coast team developed has been the most fun, friendly, and entertaining thing in games media. I'll super miss Austin's voice on Giant Bomb, but I'm sure he'll kill it wherever he goes next.
Hey duders! With E3 coming up, I've been nostalgic for the Bomb crew's recollections of shitty marketing from the show's past. I remember one anecdote in particular involving a bounce house desperately populated with "booth attendants." If I recall correctly, Jeff quoted one model as calling out to random attendees "Hey, you guys wanna bounce?!"
Your assistance in tracking down this part of Bombcast history is greatly appreciated.
For me, the only ethical question regarding Steam refunds is from folks playing all the way through very short games and then getting full money back on them. You can't get much out of Stellaris in under two hours, and in fact you haven't played it at all. You changed your mind about a purchase, and that's a totally reasonable refund situation when it comes to real-world goods, so I don't see why it should be different here.
The thing with Total War is that you can pause the action and issue commands. Yeah, "serious" players play it in real-time, but whatever. The tactical decisions you're making are probably more involved than in most RTS games, but I always found Total War way more accessible because of its slower pace.
Hey, duders, we're gaming to help out St. Louis Children's Hospital. Also giving out a Steam key for Fallout 4 and a bunch more stuff to our top donors! Plus more cool free stuff all day! Get stuff, and help the kids. It's the best of both worlds!
I first played through the series in 2007, and my experience was incredibly similar to yours. But now Metal Gear is my absolute favorite thing in games, so yeah, I'd recommend going on.
2 and 3 are still frustrating with overly complicated controls and long, difficult boss fights, but I always found 1 to the most infuriating BY FAR. I feel like I've gotten good at the rest of the series over the years, but the original still confounds me. 2 and 3 also have tons of difficulty settings, so don't be afraid to kick it down a notch.
Everything more recent than that just plays like a modern-ass video game.
